SDI double-charged me for callback, routed to wrong dept. How to actually reach disability payments?
Has anyone else had issues with getting charged twice for disability payments? I just tried to order a callback for my SDI debit card payments and somehow ended up being routed to unemployment instead. Then when I tried to get a callback for disability, I got charged twice - once for $19.99 and again for $29.99. The $29.99 charge was refunded, but this whole process has been so frustrating. I still haven't been able to talk to anyone about my disability payments. Any advice on how to actually reach the right department?

Ugh, that sucks! The EDD system is such a mess. I've had similar issues trying to reach the right department. It's like they purposely make it difficult to talk to a real person. 🤬

•Same here. I feel like I'm going crazy dealing with this system. How can they expect people to survive when we cant even access our benefits?

•Exactly! It's like they forget were real people with bills to pay. The whole system needs an overhaul.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

•I tried it too and it worked! Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta pay to play I guess 🤷♂️

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open in the morning. I've had better luck getting through that way. Also, make sure you have all your info ready before you call so you don't waste time once you finally get someone on the line.

This is why I always use a credit card for these kinds of services. It's much easier to dispute charges if something goes wrong. Sorry you had to deal with that OP!

•Good advice! I learned that lesson the hard way too. Credit cards ftw 💳

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They often have direct lines to EDD and can help escalate your case. It's worked for me in the past when I was stuck in limbo with my claim.

•I hadn't thought of that! Do you just call their office directly?

•Yep! Just google your district and give their office a call. They usually have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues. Good luck!

The fact that we have to jump through so many hoops just to access our benefits is ridiculous. The system is broken and needs to be fixed ASAP. How many people are suffering because they can't get through? 😤

•Preach! 🙌 It's a disgrace. We need to start putting pressure on our representatives to fix this mess.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what was said. 2. Be persistent. Sometimes you have to call multiple times a day for days on end. 3. Use the online portal as much as possible. Sometimes issues can be resolved there without calling. 4. If all else fails, contact your local representatives or file a formal complaint. 5. Join Facebook groups or forums dedicated to EDD issues. Sometimes you can find insider tips or get help from others who've been through the same thing. Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process, but don't give up!
