SDI claim update: Received wage info letter from EDD, what's next? Tips for contacting CA EDD?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an update on my SDI claim. I filed last month and got a letter about wage info. Has anyone else been in this situation? What should I expect next? Any tips on getting through to someone at EDD? I'm kinda lost here.

Jacob Lee

To answer your original question, dealing with the EDD can indeed be frustrating due to the overwhelming volume of claims and inquiries they are handling. The process typically involves verifying wage information, calculating benefits, and receiving payment notifications. While waiting, be proactive by certifying for benefits as required, even if payments have not started. If you're having trouble getting through to an agent, tools like Claimyr can be useful, although they incur a fee. However, consider exploring free options like calling at non-peak hours, using online contact forms, or even trying social media. Be sure to maintain thorough records of all communications and attempts to contact EDD. While services like Claimyr can offer quicker solutions, balancing cost and necessity is important. Ultimately, patience and persistence are key as you navigate the system.

Welcome to the club, buddy. EDD's a maze these days. Did you check your online account? Sometimes they update there before sending snail mail.

Totally agree, checking your online account is key. I've found updates there before getting any letters in the mail.

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school, but I heard it can sometimes get faster responses.

Faxing? What year is this, 1995? 😂

Ugh, the waiting game with EDD is the worst. I filed 2 months ago and still waiting on my first payment. Hang in there!

Tried calling like a million times. Always busy or they hang up on me. It's a joke 🤡

Maybe try reaching out through social media? I've heard some people had success that way.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. You never know when you'll need to prove you've been trying to resolve issues. CYA always!

Okay, let me break this down for you: 1. Wage info letter is normal. They're just confirming your earnings. 2. Next steps: - They'll calculate your benefit amount - You'll get another letter with your weekly benefit amount - Start certifying for benefits (do this even if you haven't been paid yet!) 3. Tips for contacting EDD: - Call right when they open (8 AM) - Use the online contact form - Try different phone numbers (some work better than others) 4. Be patient. The system is overwhelmed, but they'll get to you eventually. 5. Keep all your documents and keep a log of your attempts to contact them. It might come in handy later. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, thanks for the detailed info! Really appreciate it. Do you know how long it usually takes to get that benefit amount letter?

No problem! Glad to help. Honestly, the timeline varies a lot. Could be a week, could be a month. EDD's been swamped lately. Just keep an eye on your mailbox and online account.

Definitely agree with the patience part. Keeping a log has helped me in the past to track everything.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but it saved me so much time and stress.

I second this! Claimyr helped me connect with EDD when I was at wit's end too.
