SDI payment delayed - need advice for EDD call

Hey everyone, I'm having issues with my SDI claim payment. It's been delayed and I'm not sure why. I've got a call scheduled with EDD to get an update, but I'm nervous about what to ask. Any advice on how to handle this call and what specific questions I should be asking? I really need this payment to come through soon.

Ugh, I feel ya. I've been there and it sucks. Make sure you have your claim number ready when you call. Ask them specifically why there's a delay and what you can do to speed things up. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely have my claim number ready. Any other documents you think I should have on hand?

Yeah, have any recent letters from EDD nearby. Also, if you filed online, maybe have your account login info ready just in case. Better to be over-prepared, ya know?

That makes sense. I'll gather everything up. Fingers crossed this call goes well! 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're desperate to get through.

Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. How do we know its not a scam?

Not a scam, I promise. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number. It's just an automated system that waits on hold for you. But I get the skepticism, do your own research!

Here's a detailed guide for your call: 1. Start by clearly stating your name, claim number, and that you're calling about a delayed SDI payment. 2. Ask for the specific reason for the delay. Is it a processing issue? Missing information? System glitch? 3. Inquire about the expected timeframe for resolution. 4. Ask if there's any additional information or documentation you can provide to expedite the process. 5. Request a direct contact or callback number for follow-up. 6. Before ending the call, summarize what was discussed and any next steps. Remember to stay calm and polite, even if frustrated. Good luck!

Preach! 🙌 It's a total clown show. We pay into this system our whole working lives and then when we need it, it's nothing but obstacles.

It's frustrating for sure, but let's try to focus on helping OP with their immediate problem. We can rant about the system later.

Pro tip: keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and name of the person you spoke with. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

Have you checked your UI online account? Sometimes there's info there about payment holds that the phone reps don't even see.

I didn't even think of that! I'll go check right now. Thanks for the suggestion!

Anybody else notice that EDD seems to be slower lately? I wonder if there's been another policy change or if they're just swamped again.

I heard they implemented a new fraud detection system. Might be causing delays for everyone. 🕵️‍♂️

Great, more red tape. 🙄 As if it wasn't hard enough already.
