SDI claim suddenly cut off - no payments since November. Help!
My disability claim got cut off for no reason. I sent in all the paperwork they asked for, and my doctor did too. Haven't gotten paid since late November. I'm supposed to go back to work this week, but there's no work available. I'm trying to get my claim paid until early January. Anyone else dealing with this? What should I do?

Ugh, that sucks. Did they give you any reason for cutting it off? Sometimes they send notices about missing info or deadlines. Did you get anything like that?

•They asked for a bunch of info and I sent it all in. Didn't mention any deadlines tho

•Hmm, that's weird. Did they confirm they got your docs? Sometimes stuff gets lost in the system 🙄

•Nope, no confirmation. Should I have gotten one?

•Always get a confirmation! I learned that the hard way. Now I send everything certified mail 📬

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time.

•$20 tho? That's kinda steep just to make a phone call 😬

•I get it, but think about how much time you waste on hold. For me, it was worth it to actually talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all paperwork you've sent in. 2. Call them ASAP. Be persistent. Sometimes you have to call multiple times to get someone helpful. 3. If calling doesn't work, try contacting your local state representative. They can often help push things through. 4. Check if there's an online portal where you can see the status of your claim. 5. If all else fails, consider filing an appeal. Remember, you have rights. Don't let them jerk you around. Good luck!

Have you tried reaching out to a disability advocate? They can sometimes help navigate the system and fight for your rights.

•I didn't even know that was a thing. How do I find one?

•Google 'disability advocate' + your area. Some non-profits offer free services. Worth checking out!

This happened to me last year. Turns out they had my old address on file and all the notices were going there. Double-check your contact info with them!

This is so frustrating! I went through something similar a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: First, request a "Notice of Action" from EDD - they have to tell you in writing why your claim was stopped. You can do this online through SDI Online or by calling. Second, if you haven't already, file a written appeal ASAP. You usually have 30 days from when they stopped your benefits, but sometimes they'll accept late appeals if you have good cause. Also, keep track of every phone call, document, and interaction. Write down dates, times, and who you spoke with. This becomes super important if you need to escalate. Don't give up! The system is broken but your benefits are there - you just need to fight for them. Hang in there! 💪
