SDI claim stuck after doctor sent extension paperwork 2 weeks ago - how to get it updated?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI claim. My doctor sent in extension paperwork like 2 weeks ago, but it seems like my claim is stuck and hasn't been updated. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this sorted out quickly? I'm getting worried about my benefits.

I heard they're super backlogged right now because of all the covid extensions. Might just need to wait it out unfortunately.

Waiting it out is not an option for everyone. Bills don't wait!

Yeah, I've been waiting for 6 weeks now. It's ridiculous.

I sympathize with everyone going through this, but I also want to share my experience with Claimyr. While it does cost $20, for me, the convenience and time saved were worth it. It's unfortunate we have to resort to such services, but if you're in a bind and can't afford to wait, it might be a practical solution.

I agree, anything that saves time in these situations is valuable.

OMG I'm in the exact same boat!!! 😠My extension has been "processing" for like a month now. This whole system is a joke.

Have you tried contacting your local state representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under the SDI office and get things moving.

Good point! Representatives tend to have more influence when they get involved.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the regional offices. Sometimes they can help even if it's not your local office.

That's smart! Sometimes regional offices are less busy.

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, for real? How does that even work? Sounds too good to be true.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

I've heard mixed reviews about Claimyr. Some swear by it, but others aren't sure it's worth paying for. It depends on how much you value your time, I guess.

Have you considered reaching out to your doctor's office? They might be able to resend the paperwork or provide you with a copy that you can submit yourself.

That's a good idea. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they can help.

I had a similar issue last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Keep calling every day 2. Send a follow-up fax with your claim number and doctor's info 3. Email them through the online portal 4. If all else fails, contact your local assembly member Don't give up! It's a pain, but persistence pays off.

This is solid advice. I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, fax. It'll help if you need to escalate.

Totally agree on documenting everything. It helps to show a pattern if there's a need for further action.

Update: I tried calling again this morning and finally got through! They said they received the paperwork but it's in a backlog. Should be processed in the next 7-10 business days. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Honestly, if you're persistent, you might eventually get through. But it's tough with how overwhelmed they are.
