SDI Claim: Missed deadline for medical provider form - too late to submit?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI claim. My doctor couldn't submit the medical provider form online, so we had to go with a paper form. I finally got it in the mail, but then I received a notice saying I had a deadline to submit it, which has already passed. I'm freaking out a little - is it too late to submit the form? Do I need to file a whole new claim? Any advice would be super appreciated!

Ugh, been there done that. The SDI system is such a mess! π€¦ββοΈ First thing you should do is call them ASAP. Explain the situation and ask if you can still submit the form. Sometimes they're lenient if you have a good reason for the delay.

Don't panic yet! I had a similar issue last year. Here's what you should do: 1. Call SDI first thing in the morning. Be prepared to wait. 2. Explain your situation calmly. Mention that your doctor had technical issues. 3. Ask if you can still submit the form late. They often have grace periods. 4. If they say no, ask about the appeals process. 5. As a last resort, inquire about filing a new claim. Remember, document everything! Get names of who you talk to and reference numbers for your calls. Good luck!

β’This is solid advice. I work in HR and deal with SDI stuff all the time. One thing I'd add - if you have any emails or documentation showing your doctor's struggles with the online system, have those ready. It could help your case.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government bureaucracy πͺπ€‘ where the rules are made up and the deadlines don't matter (except when they do

Have you tried faxing the form? Sometimes old school methods work better with these dinosaur systems.

β’Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it! π I've had more success with faxes than their glitchy online portals.

Guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it's worth it to avoid hours of hold music. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’20 bucks tho? π¬ That's steep just to talk to someone...

β’I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not spending 3 hours on hold was totally worth the cost.

Serious question - has anyone successfully appealed a late submission? What was the process like?

β’I did! It took forever, but I won my appeal. Had to provide a ton of documentation and write a formal letter explaining the delay. It was a pain, but worth it in the end.

β’That's good to hear! How long did the whole process take?

β’It took about 3 months from start to finish. Not gonna lie, it was stressful. But hang in there if you decide to appeal!

Hey there! I went through something similar a few months ago. Don't give up hope just yet! Here's what worked for me: I called the SDI office and explained that my doctor had technical difficulties with the online system (which seems to be a common issue). The rep I spoke with was actually pretty understanding and allowed me to submit the form late. They said as long as you have a valid reason for the delay and can document it, they usually work with you. Make sure to mention that it was due to system issues on their end, not just procrastination. Also, if you have any emails or notes from your doctor's office about the technical problems, keep those handy when you call. Good luck! π

β’This is really encouraging to hear! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now where my doctor's office had issues with the online portal. Did you have to provide any specific documentation about the technical problems, or was just explaining the situation over the phone enough? Also, do you remember if there's a specific timeframe they consider "reasonable" for late submissions due to technical issues?
