SDI Claim Delay: No Updates or Payments After Pregnancy/C-section Update. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability claim. I submitted an update about my pregnancy and C-section delivery, but I haven't seen any updates or received payments for pre-birth or post-birth disability benefits. It's been a while, and I'm getting worried. Has anyone else experienced delays with their disability claims? When should I expect to see updates and receive my payments? Any advice on how to speed up the process?

Douglas Foster

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. The whole system is a mess. Have you tried calling them? It took me like 50 attempts to get through, but once I did, they were able to update my claim pretty quickly.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to call, but no luck so far. Did you have to do anything special to get through?

Honestly, it was just persistence. I called first thing in the morning, right when they opened. Seemed to work better than calling later in the day. Good luck!

Pro tip: use a redial app on your phone. Saved me hours of manually redialing!

I found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The system is broken if we have to pay just to talk to someone 😤

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and updates. 2. Send a written request for claim status update via certified mail. 3. Contact your local state representative's office. They can often help expedite claims. 4. If you're really stuck, consider reaching out to a disability attorney. 5. Don't give up! Keep pushing until you get answers. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Be persistent but polite. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. Have you had success with contacting a state rep before?

Yes, actually! My sister was in a similar situation and her state rep's office was super helpful. They have staff dedicated to helping constituents with these issues.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government bureaucracy 🤡 I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. At this point, I'm considering hiring a carrier pigeon to deliver my messages faster 🐦

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the system but don't send notifications. Worth a shot!

I've been checking obsessively, but no changes so far. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Thank you! 💕 It's definitely not what I wanted to be focusing on with a newborn, but here we are.

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue and it turned out they needed additional medical info from my doctor. Might be worth checking if they're missing any documentation on their end.
