Need to contact both PFL and EDD for disability claim update - any tips?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an update on my disability claim and I need to talk to both Paid Family Leave and EDD. Has anyone had any luck getting through to both departments? I'm not sure if I should try calling them separately or if there's a way to handle both issues in one call. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve contacting EDD and PFL departments, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDJaUFDeGUE

Ugh, good luck with that. I've been trying to get through to EDD for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone 🙄

Same here! I swear they changed their phone system just to make it harder to reach a human. 😤

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Tried that, no luck. It's like playing the lottery at this point 🎰

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's kinda steep just to make a phone call...

I know it sounds crazy, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

Unfortunately, you'll need to contact Paid Family Leave and EDD separately. They're different departments and don't have access to each other's systems. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. Call Paid Family Leave first thing in the morning 2. Once that's done, immediately call EDD 3. Be prepared with all your info for both calls 4. If you can't get through, keep trying different times of day It's a pain, but persistence is key. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of who you talk to and when. It can help if you need to follow up later.

I feel your pain, OP. The whole system is a joke. I've been trying to get an update on my claim for MONTHS. It's like they want us to give up 😡

Preach! 🙌 The government needs to get its act together. We're not asking for handouts, just what we're owed!

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

Pro tip: if you have a complex case involving both PFL and EDD, try to get a case worker assigned. They can sometimes coordinate between departments. It's not easy, but it can save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

That's great advice! How do I go about getting a case worker assigned?

You usually need to request one specifically when you talk to an agent. Explain that your situation involves multiple departments and ask if a case worker can be assigned to oversee everything. It might take some persistence, but it's worth it!

Has anyone had any luck with the callback feature on the EDD website? I've been waiting for days and still no call...

Friendly reminder to everyone: be nice to the agents when you do get through! They're dealing with a broken system too. A little kindness goes a long way and might even help your case 😊
