Need help reaching EDD disability rep for existing claim - tried everything!

Hey everyone, I need to talk to a disability rep at EDD about my existing claim. I've been trying to get through for days but no luck. It's not about payments, identity verification, or appeals. I just need to speak with an actual person. Any tips on how to reach a real human being there?

Ugh, I feel your pain. EDD's phone system is a nightmare. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had some luck getting through that way.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck so far. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: keep hitting 0 or saying "representative" over and over. Sometimes it'll bump you to a person faster.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without paying extra.

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying, I finally got through. Worth every penny imho.

How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push things through.

Here's what I've learned after months of dealing with EDD: 1. Persistence is key. Call multiple times a day if you have to. 2. Try different numbers. Sometimes the disability line is less busy than the main unemployment line. 3. Be prepared with all your info before you call. Have your claim number, social security number, and any relevant dates ready. 4. If you get through to anyone, even if it's not the right department, ask if they can transfer you directly instead of hanging up. 5. Consider using one of those paid services that wait on hold for you. It's not ideal, but it can save you hours of frustration. 6. Document everything. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. 7. If all else fails, contact your local government representative. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP.

Number 4 is clutch. I got transferred three times but finally reached the right person without having to call back.

For real! Or at least have a callback system that actually works.

Careful what you wish for. Knowing the government, they'd probably implement some buggy system that's even worse 😂

I heard they increased staff recently. Maybe try calling during off-peak hours? Like right before lunch or late afternoon?

Not to be that guy, but have you checked if theres an online portal where you can submit your question? Sometimes its easier than calling

Yeah, I've tried that. But my issue is kinda complicated and I really need to talk to someone directly.
