EDD SDI: Impossible to reach agent about disability benefits - any advice?
Has anyone else been having trouble getting info about their disability benefits? I've been trying to reach someone at EDD for days now. I need to speak with an agent ASAP about my account details and payments, but it's impossible to get through. The automated system is useless and I'm getting really frustrated. Any advice on how to actually talk to a human being there?

I heard they're implementing a new AI system to handle claims. Anyone know if thats true or just another rumor?

Great, now we'll have robots ignoring us instead of humans π

Idk about AI, but they definitely need to upgrade their tech. It's like they're stuck in 1995

AI could streamline processes if done right, but there's always concern about losing the human element.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? Sometimes they can help expedite things with EDD. Worth a shot if you're really stuck!

I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how to find out who my assembly member is?

Just google "[your city] assembly member" and it should come up. Good luck!

It's a great avenue. They often have resources directly dealing with agencies like EDD.

Sadly, it's a sentiment many share. We need more advocacy for real improvements.

Guys, I'm telling you, social media is the way to go. I tweeted at EDD and actually got a response! Try reaching out to them on Twitter or Facebook

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with EDD for YEARS and here's what I've learned: 1. Persistence is key. Call multiple times a day if you have to. 2. Keep detailed records of every interaction, including dates, times, and names of reps you speak to. 3. Use their online portal as much as possible for basic stuff. 4. If you're not getting anywhere, consider filing a formal complaint. 5. Know your rights! Read up on disability benefit laws. 6. Don't be afraid to escalate to a supervisor if you're not getting help. Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't let the system wear you down!

To address the issues raised, one potential solution is using Claimyr's service, which has been noted to help in connecting with live agents at EDD quickly. While it does come with a cost of $20, many users have found it a time-saving alternative to the traditional, often frustrating call experience. Claimyr acts as an intermediary, navigating the phone menu and holding until a representative is available, then connecting the call to you. However, it's important to weigh the cost against the urgency of your need and to consider other options such as reaching out to your local assembly member or leveraging social media for assistance, which could be more budget-friendly. Persistence in calling, staying informed about your rights, and using digital platforms are also crucial strategies. Ultimately, while Claimyr can be a valuable tool, especially in urgent scenarios, ensure to explore all avenues for accessing your rightfully entitled benefits.

Pro tip: if you're calling, use the Spanish line and then ask for an English speaker. The wait times are usually shorter!

Isn't that kinda unethical tho?

It's a workaround, but ideally, the system should be equitable for everyone, regardless of language.

Has anyone else noticed that their website is always "under maintenance" when you need it most? It's like they're trying to gaslight us or something π€

I feel your pain, OP. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I've been trying to get through for weeks about my own disability claim. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits π

It's absurd how difficult it is to get the help we're entitled to. I hope they overhaul this system soon, it's leaving too many people in the lurch.

Has anyone else noticed that the info on their website contradicts what the reps tell you on the phone? It's like playing a game of telephone but with your benefits on the line π

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through, but tbh I haven't had much luck either. This whole system is broken af

Guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Claims like these can be a lifesaver, but itβs essential to weigh the cost against the benefit. If it saves time, it might be worth it for some.
