ID.me suspended - Can't apply for SDI benefits online. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble applying for SDI benefits online. My ID.me account got suspended and now I can't get through the application process. I've tried contacting ID.me support and even looked up solutions on YouTube, but no luck. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to apply for short-term disability without ID.me verification? I'm getting desperate here!

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling the EDD directly? Sometimes they can help you bypass the ID.me stuff if you explain your situation.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to call them, but the lines are always busy. It's so frustrating 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through!

Good idea, I'll give that a shot. Fingers crossed 🤞

ID.me is the worst! I swear they make it impossible on purpose. Have you tried creating a new account with a different email?

I thought about that, but I'm worried it might cause more problems if they catch me using two accounts. Has anyone actually had success with this?

Don't do it! My cousin tried that and got flagged for fraud. Not worth the risk, trust me.

Yikes, nevermind then. Sorry for the bad advice! 😅

Here's what worked for me when I had ID.me issues: 1. Gather all your documents (ID, SSN, proof of address, etc.) 2. Call EDD and explain the situation 3. Ask for alternative verification methods 4. Be persistent and polite 5. If the first agent can't help, ask to speak with a supervisor 6. Keep detailed notes of all your calls It took me a few tries, but I finally got through and was able to apply. Don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. How long did the whole process take for you?

It took about 2 weeks of calling before I got it sorted. Hang in there!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks? Thats highway robbery!

I get it, but considering how much time and stress it saved me, it was worth every penny.

The whole system is broken af. Why do we even need ID.me? It's just another layer of bureaucracy 🙄

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible to get benefits.

Have you checked if theres any in-person EDD offices near you? Sometimes face-to-face is easier then dealing with online stuff.

I didn't even know that was an option! I'll look into it, thanks!

Have you tried contacting ID.me through social media? Sometimes companies respond faster when you call them out publicly.

That's a good idea, I'll give it a shot. Twitter or Facebook?

Try both! The more noise you make, the better chance of getting a response.

I went through the exact same nightmare last year! Here's what finally worked for me: I kept detailed records of every interaction with ID.me (screenshots, case numbers, etc.) and then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Within 48 hours, I got a call from an ID.me escalation team who manually reviewed and restored my account. Also, while you're waiting, try calling EDD at exactly 8:00 AM - I literally set multiple alarms and hit redial until I got through. The wait was brutal but I eventually got a human who helped me submit a paper application as a backup. Don't give up - the system is broken but there are ways around it!
