Haven't been paid for work - need advice on getting my money ASAP
Hey everyone, I'm in a really tough spot right now. I haven't been paid for my work and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else dealt with this before? What did you do to get your money? I've tried calling but I can't get through to anyone. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through something similar last year. It's so frustrating when you've put in the work and then don't get paid on time. Have you tried sending a formal letter or email to your employer? Sometimes putting things in writing can light a fire under them.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've sent a couple emails already but maybe I need to make it more formal. Did you use any specific language that worked for you?

Yeah, I actually found a template online for a 'demand for payment' letter. It sounded all official and legal-like. Seemed to do the trick for me. I'll try to find it and DM you the link.

Man, this sucks. I've been there too. Have you considered going to your local labor board? They can sometimes help with wage theft issues.

Yo, I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds kinda sketchy. You sure it's legit?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

How does it work exactly? Do they just keep redialing or what?

From what I understand, they use some kind of automated system to navigate the phone menus and stay on hold. When a real person picks up, it connects to your phone. Pretty clever tbh.

This is why we need stronger labor laws smh. Companies think they can just get away with not paying people. It's ridiculous.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a record of all your hours worked, any communication with your employer, etc. 2. Send a formal demand letter. Give them a specific deadline to pay you. 3. If they don't pay by the deadline, file a wage claim with your state's labor department. 4. Consider small claims court if the amount is within the limit. 5. If it's a significant amount, consult with an employment lawyer. Remember, it's illegal for them to retaliate against you for demanding your rightful pay. Don't let them intimidate you. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start putting together all my documentation. Do you have any tips for the demand letter?

Sure thing! Keep it professional and factual. State the amount owed, the work it was for, and when it was due. Give a clear deadline (like 10 business days). Mention that you'll pursue legal action if not paid by then. Send it certified mail so you have proof they received it.

This happened to me once. Turns out it was just a payroll glitch and they fixed it pretty quick once I brought it to their attention. Maybe check if it's just a mistake?

I wish it was just a glitch. I've already talked to my manager and they keep saying they'll 'look into it' but nothing happens. 😞

Oof, that sucks. Definitely time to escalate then. Don't let them brush you off!

Ugh, I hate when companies pull this crap. They expect us to bend over backwards for them but can't even pay us on time? 🙄 Sending good vibes your way, OP. Hope you get your money soon!
