EDD sent conflicting letters same day - one asking for more info, one denying claim. What do I do?
I'm so frustrated with EDD right now. I got two letters on the same day, both dated August 8th. One says they need more info for my disability claim, the other says I'm denied! I sent everything they asked for on August 12th, but now I'm not sure if I'm still denied or what. Do I need to appeal? Can they speed this up? I'm falling behind on bills because of all this confusion. Has anyone else dealt with conflicting EDD letters like this?

Ugh, classic EDD bureaucracy 🙄 I've been there, friend. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD ASAP. Explain the situation calmly but firmly. 2. Ask if they've received your documents from Aug 12th. 3. Request an expedited review due to financial hardship. 4. Get the name and ID of whoever you speak to. 5. Follow up with a written summary of your call (email or fax). 6. If they insist on an appeal, file it anyway while pushing for a review. 7. Document EVERYTHING. Stay strong, the system is a mess but you'll get through this!

•This is solid advice right here 💯 Especially the part about documenting everything. EDD can be a real pain in the a**

•True, calling can be a nightmare. That's why I use this site called claimyr.com now. It costs $20 but it calls for you, waits on hold, and connects you when an agent picks up. Saved me hours of frustration.

•Yeah, it really does work. Check out this video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ. It's been a game-changer for me dealing with EDD.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape and get answers from EDD faster.

•I hadn't thought of that! Do you know how I'd go about contacting them?

•Just google '[your city] state representative' and you should find their office contact info. Give em a call and explain your situation. They usually have staff dedicated to helping constituents with stuff like this.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then calls you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but it saved me hours of hold time. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

•I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it worked perfectly. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to call you back. Totally worth the $20 imo

•20 bucks to skip the hold time? sign me up lol. EDD owes me way more than that for all the stress they've caused 😤

This happened to me last year! Turns out there was a glitch in their system sending out automated denials. Keep pushing and don't give up. If you can get someone on the phone, they might be able to fix it without a formal appeal.

•Oh wow, that's good to know. Did you end up having to appeal or did they fix it once you got through?

•They fixed it over the phone, but it took like 3 calls to find someone who knew what they were doing. Hang in there!

pro tip: fax your documents instead of mailing them. EDD's fax system is way faster and you get confirmation it was received. saved my butt when i was in a similar situation

Hey, former EDD employee here. This sounds like a case of crossed wires between departments. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. File an appeal anyway, just to be safe. You have 30 days from the date on the denial letter. 2. Call the disability claims line (not the general EDD line) and ask for a 'claim review' based on the conflicting letters. 3. If you sent your docs via regular mail, resend them via certified mail or fax. 4. Check your online account daily for updates. 5. If you don't see movement in a week, start escalating. Good luck!
