EDD not updating return-to-work date after 2 weeks, affecting benefits. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my return-to-work date not being updated in the system. My doctor sent in a supplemental medical certificate to change my date to next year, but it's been over two weeks and nothing's changed online. This delay is causing problems with my benefits. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get it sorted out quickly?

I found a way to solve return-to-work date update delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7atJJEjmwg

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had a similar issue last month. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes you gotta be persistent to get things moving.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through then.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I would do: 1. Double-check with your doctor to make sure they sent the certificate to the right department. 2. Call the benefits office and ask them to confirm receipt of the document. 3. If they haven't received it, ask for a fax number or email address to send it directly. 4. Request that they update your info while you're on the phone. 5. Get a confirmation number or email for the update. Stay on them! Don't let your case fall through the cracks. Good luck!

•This is solid advice right here. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. It can help if you need to escalate later.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up with government agencies.

•I hadn't thought of that! How would I go about contacting them?

•Just google your state and district, find your rep's website, and there should be a 'contact us' section. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

Protip: If you can, go to their office in person. Its harder for them to ignore you when your standing right infront of them lol

Hey Sophie! I went through something similar last year. Here's what worked for me: I sent a follow-up fax directly to their medical review department with a cover letter explaining the delay and requesting urgent processing. Make sure to include your claim number and reference the original submission date. Also, try calling first thing Monday morning around 8:02 AM - that's when I had the best luck getting through. Keep all your documentation handy when you call. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with these agencies! Hope this helps! 🤞

•This is really helpful advice! I never thought about sending a follow-up fax with a cover letter. Do you happen to know the fax number for the medical review department? I've been struggling to find the right contact info.

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - it's been 3 weeks since my doctor submitted updated paperwork and still no updates in the system. One thing that helped me was creating a paper trail. I started sending certified mail copies of everything to make sure there's documented proof of submission dates. Also, when you do get through on the phone, ask for the supervisor's direct extension and the specific department handling medical reviews. Sometimes the front-line reps don't have access to update medical information and you need to be transferred to a specialist. Don't give up - I know how stressful this is when your benefits are on the line! 💪

•Great advice about creating a paper trail! I'm new to dealing with EDD but this sounds like something I should start doing right away. The certified mail idea is really smart - that way you have proof they received everything. Has anyone else had success with getting supervisor extensions? I'm worried about being transferred around in circles when I finally do get through to someone.
