EDD Unemployment Payment Delay: Can't Get Through, Need Advice

I'm so frustrated. I haven't received my unemployment payment and I've been waiting for hours. I tried calling but can't get through. Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take for you to get your payment? I'm starting to worry that I missed the call or something. This is so stressful, I really need this money. Any advice on what to do next?

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes the notifications end up there.

Good point, also check your junk mail in case any crucial emails end up there.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just get jobs instead of relying on the government 🤷‍♂️

Wow, way to be tone-deaf. Some of us lost our jobs due to the pandemic. It's not that simple.

It's not a void, it's a black hole. And it's eating our sanity.

At least there's some comfort in shared experiences. We'll get through this together!

Pro tip: if u get through, ask for a tier 2 specialist right away. They have more power to fix issues.

Ravi Sharma

Great tip! Tier 2 specialists often have more authority to make adjustments on the spot.

Have you tried calling early in the morning? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Luca Romano

I've tried calling at all hours, even at 3 AM! No luck so far 😞

3 AM? Dang, you're dedicated. Maybe try faxing them? I know it sounds old school, but it worked for my cousin.

I second the faxing idea. It sounds crazy, but sometimes these methods can actually catch someone's attention.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Luca Romano

I didn't even think of that. How do I find my local rep?

Andre Dupont

Just Google "[your state] representative" and you should find a website where you can enter your address to find your rep. Good luck!

Also, some states have specific unemployment liaisons who might be able to help. It's worth checking out!

Guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

Sounds sketchy. How do we know this isn't a scam?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate and tried it. Got through in like an hour. Worth every penny for me.

How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time to be ready for the call?

Claimyr does have positive reviews from users, but it's wise to consider cost versus need. Make sure to do your research!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for months: 1. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 2. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls and attempts to contact them. 3. Check your online account regularly for updates. 4. Make sure all your information is up to date and accurate. 5. If possible, try to build up an emergency fund for situations like this. 6. Reach out to local food banks or assistance programs if you're really struggling. 7. Consider taking on temporary gigs or odd jobs to tide you over. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing. You'll get through eventually.

Great advice. I'd add: join local FB groups for unemployment support. They often have good info.

Also, local libraries sometimes provide free resources or workshops that can help with finding temporary jobs.

It seems like many people are struggling to get through the unemployment system. While the challenges with contacting your state’s unemployment office can be daunting, tools like Claimyr do appear to provide a legitimate option to connect with a real person. That being said, it’s crucial to weigh the cost against other priorities, especially if funds are tight. It might be helpful to explore all the free options first, such as checking your state’s unemployment website for any messages or updates, reaching out through email, or even contacting a local unemployment office directly if possible. If all else fails, and you decide that the cost of an external service like Claimyr is worth the potential to resolve your issue quicker, it’s important to read reviews and understand exactly what the service offers. Many users have reported success using Claimyr, but it’s not a guaranteed solution for everyone. Being persistent and utilizing multiple avenues might ultimately lead to resolving your situation faster.
