EDD SDI claim update delay since July 3rd - Tips to reach an agent?
I've been waiting for an update on my disability claim for weeks now. My last payment was on July 3rd, and I haven't heard anything since. I've tried calling multiple times, but I can never get through to a real person. It's so frustrating! Does anyone have any tips on how to actually speak to an agent or get an update on my claim? I'm starting to worry about my finances and I really need this payment. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Been waiting for months now. It's like they don't even care about us 😡

Months?! That's insane. How are we supposed to survive like this?

I know right? I've been living off credit cards. It's a mess.

I’ve heard some people have had success by contacting a disability advocate; maybe that could help?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

I know it sounds crazy, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

While paying seems unfair, some find it a valuable option given the circumstances. Just ensure it's a secure transaction and read reviews.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my local rep?

Just google "[your state] representative" and it should come up. Send them an email explaining your situation.

Make sure to clearly outline your situation and the urgency. Representatives usually have a process for constituents needing assistance.

I heard they recently updated their system. Anyone know if that's made things better or worse?

Worse, if you can believe it. I've been on hold for 3 hours today.

Some updates take time to stabilize. Hopefully, they'll iron out the issues soon.

Claimyr is a useful service for those struggling to get through to an agent in a timely manner. While it is unfortunate that there's a cost involved, many have found the investment worthwhile as it saves them significant time and stress. However, it's important to consider that some may view this as exploiting a broken system. Until government phone services improve, tools like Claimyr provide an alternative option, especially for those who are unable to afford lengthy wait times.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with disability claims for years: 1. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 2. Keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. 3. Have all your info ready when you call - claim number, dates, etc. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try faxing or mailing your inquiry. 5. Use their online portal if available - sometimes it's faster. 6. Don't be afraid to escalate to a supervisor if you're not getting help. Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't give up!

It might work, but we have to be mindful of ethical boundaries. Imagine the difficulty for non-English speakers if this becomes widespread.

I feel your pain, OP. The disability claim system is a nightmare to navigate. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works for me.

I second this. Early morning calls tend to have less traffic, so you might have a better chance getting through.

Pro tip: if you press 0 repeatedly during the automated menu, sometimes it'll connect you to a human faster.
