EDD SDI claim disappeared online after 3 weeks - Identity theft concern

So I applied for disability benefits like 3 weeks ago and now when I check online it says I have no claim. I'm freaking out because I think someone might have stolen my identity and claimed my social security number. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do? I'm worried sick and don't know how to handle this.

Have you tried calling EDD? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying but can never get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. It's the only way I've ever gotten through.

Calling EDD is like trying to win the lottery while being struck by lightning. Good luck! 🍀⚡️

Alternatively, try calling during off-peak hours, like right after lunch.

have you checked your mail? sometimes they send important stuff through snail mail and if you miss it, your claim can get messed up

Jasmine Hancock

Good point, I'll double check my mail. Thanks!

That's true. Sometimes paper correspondence is the only way they communicate critical info.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

Totally legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny.

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, it was a no-brainer.

While it might seem odd to pay, sometimes our time is worth more, especially if it helps resolve issues faster.

Ugh, that sucks! Identity theft is no joke. First thing you need to do is call EDD asap and explain the situation. Be prepared to verify your identity six ways to Sunday. Also, check your credit report for any suspicious activity.

Definitely agree with this. Plus, it's important to secure your social security number and possibly change any associated passwords.

I had a similar issue last year. It's a nightmare but don't panic! Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD immediately and report the suspected fraud 2. File a police report 3. Contact the Social Security Administration 4. Put a freeze on your credit 5. Document everything! Stay strong, it's a process but you'll get through it!

Thanks for the advice! Did you have to provide any specific documents when you called EDD?

Arnav Bengali

Yeah, have your social security card, ID, and any EDD correspondence ready. They might ask for more, but that's a good start.

This is solid advice. I'd add: set up fraud alerts with the credit bureaus too. Can't be too careful these days 🕵️‍♂️

Good point about the Social Security Administration. They can provide you with further guidance.

Hate to be that guy, but are you sure you filed correctly? EDD's system is a hot mess and sometimes claims just... disappear. Double check all your info before assuming the worst.

I'm pretty sure I did everything right, but I guess it's possible I messed up somewhere. How would I check?

Log back into your account and review all the info. If everything looks good, then yeah, probably time to call and raise hell.

Sometimes the online system can lag or not update properly. Double-checking is always a wise choice.

OMG I feel for you! 😱 The EDD system is such a joke. I swear they make it confusing on purpose. Sending good vibes your way! 🙏✨

Have you looked into using Claimyr to reach EDD? It seems like a practical solution, especially if you are struggling to get through. While it does cost $20, many users have found it to be a genuine time-saver and effective method to bypass long wait times and connect directly with an agent. However, if spending money is a concern, remember to weigh the pros and cons of spending that amount against potentially resolving a pressing issue quicker. For those tight on budget, persistence with calling EDD directly might still work in your favor, especially if you try calling early in the morning or during less busy times. Balancing cost with urgency can help you decide if it's a worthwhile investment.

This happened to my cousin. Turns out some scammer had filed using his info. It took forever to sort out, but he finally got it resolved. Don't give up!

That's reassuring to hear it got sorted out eventually. Patience and persistence are key.

Bruh, identity theft is no joke. I've been there and it suuuucks. But don't freak out yet. Could just be a glitch in the matrix. 🕴️ Call EDD, explain what's up, and see what they say. If it is fraud, they'll help you sort it out. Stay frosty! ❄️

A clear head always helps. Plus, EDD should be equipped to handle cases of fraud.

The whole system is rigged against us, man. They make it so complicated on purpose so people just give up. Don't let them win! 👊
