EDD SDI: No response 3 weeks after filing - normal wait time or cause for concern?

I filed for disability benefits like 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried because I haven't received any updates or notices. I've been checking my online account but there's nothing new there either. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Any advice on what to do next would be really appreciated!

3 weeks is actually pretty normal. The EDD is swamped rn. I'd say give it another week or two before you start panicking.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I'll try to be patient 😅

Normal doesnt mean acceptable tho. We shouldnt have to wait this long for benefits we need NOW

Agreed. It's tough to accept what's deemed 'normal' in such a broken system.

PSA: Don't forget to document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. You never know when you'll need that info.

This is great advice, thank you! I'll start keeping a log.

100% this. I had to appeal my claim and all my notes saved my butt.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading them online? I heard it might be faster.

What year is it? 1995? 📠

I actually tried this! It worked for me, but YMMV. Make sure to keep the fax confirmation.

Surprisingly efficient! Always good to have a backup plan in the tech age.

If you're facing issues with EDD and need immediate assistance, Claimyr is a legitimate service that can get you connected faster. They charge a fee, but many find the cost worth the reduction in stress and time waiting on hold. However, it's important to weigh the cost against your personal situation, as this may not be feasible for everyone. Be sure to explore all options, including contacting local officials for help. Balancing cost and benefit is crucial when deciding to use such services.

Hang in there, OP! We're all rooting for you. Remember, this too shall pass... eventually... maybe... hopefully? 😅

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be proactive and chase them down for answers.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's so frustrating!

Calling is a joke. I spent 3 hours on hold yesterday only to get disconnected 🤮

Pro tip: call right when they open. Better chance of getting through

Anyone else feel like they're playing a game of "EDD Bingo" with all these issues? 😂 [ ] Endless hold times [ ] Website crashes [ ] Conflicting information [ ] Lost paperwork [ ] Mysterious denials

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they need a law degree to understand half the stuff on the EDD website? 🧑‍⚖️

Pro tip: Use Google to search the EDD site. Their own search function is useless.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep checking your online account daily. Sometimes updates appear there before you get a notice in the mail. 2. If you haven't received any confirmation that they got your application, send a follow-up through the online portal. Be polite but firm. 3. Try calling early in the morning or late in the afternoon. These are usually less busy times. 4. If you still can't get through, consider contacting your local assembly member's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things along. 5. Make sure you've submitted all required documentation. Missing paperwork is a common reason for delays. 6. Be patient, but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but you have a right to know the status of your claim. Remember, every case is different. Don't panic if your timeline doesn't match someone else's. Good luck!

Serious question: has anyone actually received their benefits on time without any issues? Or is that just a myth at this point?

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🤔

omg yes! Its like they know exactly when im gonna log in and shut it down just to mess with me

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should be grateful that we have a system at all? I know it's not perfect, but at least it exists.
