EDD SDI payment delay - filed weeks ago, still no benefits. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated. I filed for disability insurance benefits a while ago and still haven't received any payments. Has anyone else experienced this? It's been weeks and I'm starting to worry. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact? I've tried calling but can't get through to anyone. This is seriously stressing me out.

I found a way to solve disability benefits payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4MXOqEFlW4

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. It took forever to get my first payment. Have you checked your online account to see if there's any updates or messages?

Yeah, I've been checking my account like crazy. No updates, no messages, nothing. It's like my claim disappeared into a black hole or something 😫

That sucks. Maybe try sending them a message through the online portal? Sometimes that works better than calling.

Good idea, I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

The EDD system is such a joke. I swear they're purposely making it difficult to get benefits. Hang in there, OP. 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

It really does work! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. I only had to wait about 45 minutes before I got connected to an agent. Way better than spending hours trying to get through myself.

Idk man, paying to get through to a government agency seems sketchy. Shouldn't this be free?

I get where you're coming from, but for me, it was worth the $20 to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, you know? 🤷‍♂️

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of when you filed, any correspondence, and attempts to contact them. 2. Reach out to your local state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can help push things along with EDD. 3. Be persistent with calling. Try early mornings or late afternoons. 4. Check if there are any local legal aid organizations that can assist with EDD issues. 5. Make sure all your paperwork is in order and you've submitted everything they've asked for. Hope this helps! Don't give up, you'll get through this. 💪

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep, I hadn't thought of that.

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But hey, at this point I'm willing to try anything. Do you know what number to fax?

I'm so tired of seeing these posts. The system is broken and nobody in charge seems to care. We need to organize and demand change!

Preach! 🙌 But how do we even start? It feels like screaming into the void sometimes.

We could start a petition, contact our representatives en masse, maybe even organize a protest. Strength in numbers, right?

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you first filed? Sometimes they send a letter with next steps.

Sasha Reese

Yeah, I got a confirmation number when I filed online. But nothing after that. No letter, no email, nada.

Hmm, that's odd. Might be worth double-checking your spam folder just in case. Also, make sure your address is correct in their system.

Not to be that person, but are you sure you qualified for disability insurance? The requirements can be pretty strict.

Yeah, I'm sure. My doctor filled out all the necessary paperwork and I've been paying into SDI for years. That's why this is so frustrating!
