EDD SDI payment delayed 3 weeks - Can't reach anyone, what to do?
Has anyone else been waiting forever for their disability payment? I haven't gotten anything in like 3 weeks and I'm starting to freak out. I've tried calling but can't get through to a real person. What should I do? This is so frustrating!

Ugh, the EDD is such a dumpster fire. I swear they're stuck in the stone age with their tech. Anyone else think we need a complete overhaul of the system?

100% agree. It's ridiculous how outdated everything is.

Yep, but good luck getting the govt to spend money on actually useful tech upgrades 🙄

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but I've heard it can work.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, I'll try anything at this point. Do you know the fax number?

Lol I know right? But here's the number: 1-855-342-3057. Good luck!

I actually had some success with faxing. It seems unconventional, but if it works, it works!

PSA: There was a system update last week that's causing delays for some people. Might be why you're stuck. They say it should be resolved 'soon' whatever that means 🙄

Does anyone know what the update was for? Would be nice to have some transparency on why we are delayed.

Three weeks? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 2 months now. The system is completely broken.

Barely. Living off credit cards and help from family. It's a nightmare.

I feel for you. Can you apply for any temporary assistance programs while waiting?

If only fixing EDD was as easy as rebooting a computer 😅

It sounds like you're facing a common issue with EDD. While it's incredibly frustrating, there are several steps you can take. Utilizing Claimyr, as suggested, can facilitate reaching an EDD representative without the long wait times, though it does come with a fee. Many users have reported it as effective, but it's important to weigh the cost against your needs. If you're hesitant to pay for a service like Claimyr, continuing to call persistently or even trying to reach out at non-peak hours might be a low-cost alternative. Additionally, as others have said, consider contacting your local state representative for assistance in escalating your case. Documenting each step you take, including calls and any correspondence, is crucial in case you need to present a detailed account later. It's essential to keep pressing for updates and to ensure you are clear on any additional information they might require from you. Sometimes, delays are due to needing missing documentation, so confirming that EDD has everything they need can be helpful. Keeping a level head and staying organized can make a significant difference in navigating this challenging process. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, you have to PAY to talk to someone at EDD? That's messed up.

Sounds like a scam. Why would you need to pay?

I get the skepticism, but it's not a scam. You're paying for the service that waits on hold for you. EDD itself is still free to call. For me, it was worth it to not waste hours on hold.

I've used Claimyr before, and it worked for me too. But I agree, it's frustrating to have to pay for this service.

Here's what you need to do to get this resolved: 1. Keep calling every day. Use the trick where you press 1, then 2, then 3 in the menu. Sometimes it gets you through faster. 2. Gather all your info: claim number, last payment date, any letters you've gotten from EDD. 3. When you finally get through, be polite but firm. Ask specifically why there's a delay and what you can do to speed things up. 4. If they say they need more info, ask for specifics and get it to them ASAP. 5. Get the name of who you talk to and a reference number for the call. 6. If you still don't see movement in a week, call your local state representative. They can sometimes push things along. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in this situation.

This is great advice. I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. It might come in handy later.

Agreed on the documentation. It really helps when you escalate the issue or contact your local representative.

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat last month. Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes there's info there that can help.

Yeah, I checked online but it just says 'pending' with no other info. So annoying!

Online status is useless half the time. I swear they update it like once a century 🙄

I know the feeling. I even tried downloading their app hoping for a miracle, but no luck there either. It's all the same 'pending' message!

This happened to me last year. Turns out they needed some additional medical info but never told me. Check if that might be the case for you too.

Same happened to me. They said they'd mail me, but the letter never came. Had to call them to find out.
