SDI Payments Delayed 2+ Months - Can't Reach EDD, Need Advice

Has anyone else not gotten their disability payments for months? I've been waiting for 2 months now and still nothing. This is getting ridiculous. I've tried calling but can never get through to a real person. Anyone have any advice or in the same boat?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😡

I know it sounds weird, but I swear it's legit. I was desperate and tried it. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny IMO.

I've heard others mention Claimyr too. While it seems to work for some, it's unfortunate that this is even necessary. The system should provide better access for free.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are messages or updates there that explain delays.

Good tip! Sometimes they'll even put updates about processing timelines there.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds like we're back in 1995, but sometimes that works better than calling or emailing.

Actually, some offices still rely on faxing! It's crazy but worth a shot.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire disability system. It's a joke that people who need help the most are left hanging like this. 🤬

Preach! 🙌 The whole system is designed to make people give up.

It seems to be a common sentiment. The bureaucracy really needs to be simplified.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help expedite these things.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

Just google "[your state] find my representative". They usually have contact forms on their websites. Good luck!

Reaching out to local reps can be really powerful! They're more responsive than people think.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 2. Send a certified letter explaining your situation and requesting immediate action. 3. Contact your state's Department of Labor and file a formal complaint. 4. Reach out to local media if all else fails. Sometimes public pressure can work wonders. 5. Consider seeking legal advice. There are often pro bono services available for cases like this. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Keep pushing until you get what you're entitled to.

Ugh, I feel you. I went through something similar last year. It took me almost 3 months to get my payments sorted out. The system is so broken 😤

3 months?! That's insane. How did you manage to survive that long without payments?

It was rough, not gonna lie. Had to borrow money from family and max out my credit cards. But I kept calling every single day until I finally got through to someone who could help.

I know it's incredibly frustrating to be in this situation. Claimyr is a service that many have found useful to reach a live agent more quickly when the usual channels aren't working. While it's unfortunate that such a service is necessary, it has helped people bypass long call queues. However, it's important to be aware that such third-party services come with a cost, which not everyone may be able to afford. Ensure that you've exhausted all state-provided resources and options such as online portals, representatives, and local advocacy before considering paid services. It's crucial to balance the urgency of your needs with the costs involved. Additionally, documenting every step of your communication efforts can be instrumental if you need to escalate the issue or seek legal advice. The disability payment system needs significant improvements in accessibility and efficiency, and your advocacy by sharing these challenges can contribute to broader systemic change.

Have you checked if there were any recent policy changes? Sometimes they implement new rules and don't communicate them well.

True, policy changes can be really sneaky and catch people off guard.
