EDD SDI benefits stopped after missing continuing eligibility form - Help needed

So I got this notice about a continuing eligibility form for my disability benefits. I didn't open it right away cause I just got a payment notice. Big mistake. Checked my card a couple weeks later and boom, benefits stopped. Now I'm scrambling to get this fixed. Anyone else deal with this? What should I do when I finally get through to them?

It's crucial when dealing with issues like this to have a clear plan. First, document everything as it might be needed if further inquiries are necessary. This includes keeping records of all interactions, names of representatives, reference numbers, and confirmation emails. Claimyr is indeed a legitimate service that can expedite the process of speaking with a representative, but do weigh the cost against your current situation. While it provides a convenient alternative, sometimes patience and perseverance can yield the same results without the expense. Faxing, though outdated, can be a reliable method for submission, offering another avenue if the digital or mailing systems fail. Finally, always ensure to keep copies of submitted forms and any correspondence. Learning and adapting to these bureaucratic processes can be cumbersome, but organizing and executing these steps can make a significant difference in resolving your benefit issues more effectively. Take care and best of luck as you navigate this challenging system.

have you tried faxing the form? sometimes that works better than mailing or online submission. old school but effective lol

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I might try that if nothing else works. Thanks for the tip!

Faxing can actually be more immediate than mail and avoids the pitfalls of online failures, so it might be worth a try!

I swear they make these forms confusing on purpose. It's like they're trying to trip us up. Anyone else feel like they need a law degree just to fill out government paperwork? 🤔

Pro tip: Take screenshots of EVERYTHING you submit online. Saved my butt when they claimed they never got my form.

It might be helpful to have someone else look over the forms or consult a professional if you're unsure about any details.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

Totally get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny when you're desperate to talk to someone.

How long did it take for them to get through? I've been on hold for HOURS before.

Has anyone else noticed that the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point. 🙄

OMG YES! It's always down on weekends too. Like, when do they think we have time to deal with this stuff?

Pro tip: Try accessing the site super early in the morning or late at night. Less traffic = better chance of it working.

Technical issues can be frustrating. Maybe try reaching out via their social media pages for updates on outages.

Hey OP, quick question - did you keep a copy of the form you submitted? Always good to have proof in case they claim they never received it.

...crap. I didn't. 😬 Guess I know what I'm doing differently next time.

It's a good habit to get into for all official documents. You never know when you might need to reference them again.

Hate to be that guy, but... READ YOUR MAIL, PEOPLE! 📬 This stuff is important. Set reminders, put sticky notes on your fridge, do whatever you gotta do. Don't let this happen to you!

Plot twist: what if we all showed up at the EDD office dressed as clowns? They can't ignore us if we're a circus, right? 🤡🎪

LMAO I'm down. At least we'd be entertaining ourselves while we wait for hours.

That would be quite a sight! Humor aside, if anyone does decide to visit in person, make sure to bring all necessary documents.

Ugh, classic bureaucracy fail. You're not alone, friend. I've been there too. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your docs - the form, payment notices, everything. 2. Write down a timeline of events (when you got notices, when you submitted stuff). 3. Be ready to explain why you didn't open the form right away. 4. Ask them specifically why benefits stopped if you submitted on time. 5. Push for immediate reinstatement of your payments. Stay calm but firm. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I'll def get all that stuff together. Any idea how long it usually takes to get benefits back once you talk to someone?

Paolo Ricci

In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. Depends on how backed up they are and if theres any issues with your case. Keep bugging them if it takes too long!

This is solid advice. Also, once you've got through, make sure to get a reference number or any documentation from the conversation, just so you have a record of what was discussed.

Man, the system is so broken. They expect us to jump through hoops while we're already struggling. It's like they want us to fail. 🤬

It does seem like they could make the process more intuitive. Maybe they could take feedback from those who've been through it to improve the system.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been without benefits for 2 months now. It's a nightmare. Hang in there and keep fighting!

Barely. Relying on family and credit cards. It's not sustainable. This system is broken.
