EDD Pregnancy Disability mailed claim not showing up online - how to track?
I just submitted my pregnancy disability claim through mail last week since my doctor filled out the physical forms. I already have an EDD SDI Online account set up from a previous claim, but I'm confused about how I'll get updates on this new claim? Nothing is showing up in my online account yet. Is there a delay between when they process mailed claims vs when they appear online? Will I receive something in the mail first, or should I be checking my online account? I'm 36 weeks and getting anxious about making sure everything is set up before baby arrives. Anyone had experience with mailed pregnancy disability claims recently?

I did this back in december with my pregnancy claim. It took like 3 WEEKS for it to show up online after I mailed everything!! So annoying. Keep checking ur online account but u probably need to wait a while. U can try calling but goooood luck with that lol

•Three weeks?! That's crazy long... I'm already getting close to my due date. Did they at least backdate everything correctly once it finally showed up?

EDD typically takes 10-14 business days to process mailed claims before they appear in your SDI Online account. Once processed, you should be able to track everything online, including payment status and certification periods. Make sure you included your correct SSN on all documents and that your doctor completed all required sections of the DE 2501 form. Pregnancy disability can be filed 4 weeks before your expected delivery date and covers up to 4 weeks before and 6-8 weeks after birth (depending on delivery type).

•Thank you! This is helpful. I double-checked all my paperwork before sending it, so hopefully that speeds things up. I'm just worried about the timing with baby coming soon.

I went through this exact situation with my pregnancy disability claim in January. After waiting almost two weeks with nothing showing online, I was getting really anxious and needed to speak with someone at EDD. Regular phone attempts were completely useless - constant busy signals or disconnects after waiting forever. I finally tried using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to connect with an EDD agent and it worked within 25 minutes! They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd The agent was able to confirm they received my claim and it was just in the processing queue. Gave me peace of mind rather than stressing for weeks about whether my paperwork was lost.

•Is that service actually legit? Seems sketchy that you have to pay just to talk to EDD when it should be free.

•It's definitely legit - they don't actually process anything for you, they just connect you through to an actual EDD agent. Basically saves you from having to redial 50+ times hoping to get through. With pregnancy hormones and stress I was happy to not deal with the phone nightmare.

Here's what you need to know about mailed pregnancy disability claims: 1. Processing time: 7-14 business days before appearing online 2. You'll typically receive a confirmation letter in the mail first 3. Once in the system, all further certifications can be handled online 4. If your claim doesn't appear after 2 weeks, call EDD at 1-800-480-3287 Also, make sure you understand the pregnancy disability timeline. You're eligible for benefits 4 weeks before your due date, then 6 weeks after vaginal delivery or 8 weeks after C-section. If you want to take additional time off, you'll need to transition to Paid Family Leave (PFL) which is a separate claim process. Keep all your claim paperwork and take screenshots of any online confirmations. If you need to call EDD, do so early in the morning (8:00-8:30am) when wait times are shortest.

•Thank you for this detailed breakdown! That's really helpful to know about the confirmation letter coming first. I'll watch for that and then check online. I appreciate the timeline explanation too - I already have plans to transition to PFL after my disability period.

My doctor's office actually messed up my form the first time and I had to resubmit - but I didn't know for WEEKS because nothing showed online and I got no communication! When I finally got through to EDD they told me there was an issue with the medical certification. Make sure you follow up somehow even if it's a pain to get through to them!!!!

•Oh no! That's exactly what I'm worried about happening. Did they at least backdate your claim once you got the correct paperwork in?

•Yes they did backdate it thankfully. But it delayed my payments by like a month which was super stressful. Just keep checking online AND your mail. And be persistent about calling if nothing shows up soon.

BTW when it does finally show up online, you'll get an email notification too (if u have that set up). So check your spam folder too just in case.

One additional important detail: If your claim doesn't appear online after 14 business days, you should verify that your doctor's office actually submitted the DE 2501 form. Sometimes they say they'll mail it but then it gets delayed. For pregnancy claims specifically, EDD requires both parts of the form to begin processing - your portion and the medical provider certification. If you're approaching your due date and still don't see anything online, you may want to consider having your doctor complete another certification to submit directly, just to be safe. Better to have a duplicate submission than risk delays in your benefit payments.

•That's a great point! I watched my doctor fill out her portion and put it in the envelope with my part, so I'm hoping we're good. But I have an appointment next week and will definitely ask about this if nothing has shown up by then.

•Thanks for the reminder! I'm hoping I can do the continued certifications online once the initial claim is processed.

•Yes, you can absolutely do continued certifications online once your initial claim is processed. It's much faster than mailing paper forms. Just log into SDI Online and select "New Certification" when it's time to certify.
