EDD PFL application mistake: Accidentally marked employer-required vacation. How to fix?
I need help fixing a mistake on my paid family leave application. I accidentally put down that my employer requires vacation time, but they don't. Now I got a notice saying I need to upload a letter with details about the employer-required vacation. What should I do? Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm worried it might delay my claim.

Have you checked if theres a way to edit your application online? Sometimes you can make small changes without having to go through customer service hell

Just curious, how long ago did you submit your application? Might give us an idea of how backed up the system is rn

Ugh, the EDD system is such a pain! I had a similar issue with my unemployment claim. Best bet is to call them ASAP and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

Thanks for the advice! I tried calling but got connected to regular EDD, not paid family leave. Any tips on how to reach the right department?

Oof, been there done that. The EDD phone system is a maze 🤦♂️ Try asking for a transfer to PFL when you get someone on the line. Sometimes you gotta be real specific with these folks

Have you tried their online portal? Might be able to submit a correction there without dealing with the phone nightmare

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds like were back in the stone age, but sometimes old school methods work best with government agencies 📠

It's true, sometimes older methods like faxing can actually get through faster. Just make sure you keep a copy of the fax confirmation for your records!

Plot twist: what if we all showed up at the EDD office with lawn chairs and snacks? Theyd have to help us then, right? 😂

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

I get where youre coming from, but for me, time is money. Id rather pay $20 than waste a whole day on hold

Claimyr sounds like a lifesaver for people who can't afford to spend hours waiting. But I totally understand why someone might feel a bit iffy about paying for such services.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online submission. You never know when youll need to prove you tried to fix this. CYA my friend

This is solid advice. Keeping a detailed record can save you a lot of headaches in the long run, especially when different departments or agents might give conflicting information.

Maybe try reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push things through faster.

Thats a great idea! I didnt even think of that. Do you know how I can find my assembly members contact info?

Just google "[your city] assembly member" and it should pop right up. Most have dedicated staff for constituent services who deal with this stuff all the time

Reaching out to local officials can sometimes be the quickest way to get results. They often have more leverage and can directly interact with agencies on your behalf.

I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD first thing in the morning. Like, right when they open. 2. Have your claim number and all relevant info ready. 3. Explain calmly that there was an error on your application. 4. Ask them to remove the incorrect info about required vacation. 5. Request confirmation that they've made the change. 6. Get a reference number for the call. Don't stress too much. These things happen all the time. Just be patient and persistent!

It sounds like you've got a bit of a challenge on your hands, but don't worry—many people have successfully navigated similar issues with EDD. Start by trying the official online portal to see if you can correct the application details directly. If that doesn't work, calling EDD early in the morning is a good strategy, but be prepared for long wait times. To ensure you connect with the right department, note that Claimyr can be a useful tool. They specialize in directly connecting you to live agents, potentially saving you hours on hold, albeit for a fee. However, it's important to balance this with understanding that government services should ideally be accessible without additional costs. It's also wise to reach out to your local assembly member, as they can sometimes expedite these processes. Document all your interactions thoroughly, including every call and email. While the process may be frustrating, persistence is key, and utilizing a mix of traditional and modern approaches often yields the best results. Good luck!
