Can't find my EDD SDI receipt number after filing - endless phone transfer loop!

I submitted my disability claim online 2 weeks ago and now I need to find my receipt/confirmation number to check on the status. The EDD website isn't showing it anywhere in my account, and I've been on a wild goose chase with their phone system! Every time I call one number, they transfer me to another number, then THAT person gives me yet another number to call. I've been transferred FIVE times today and nobody can tell me how to find this stupid receipt number. I'm about to lose my mind! My doctor confirmed she submitted the medical certification, but I'm worried something got messed up since I can't find proof that EDD received my claim. Has anyone else had this nightmare trying to find their confirmation number? How did you eventually get it?

The receipt number should be displayed on the confirmation page immediately after you submit your claim online. Did you take a screenshot or print that page? It's also normally included in the confirmation email EDD sends after submission. Check your spam/junk folders if you don't see it in your inbox.

No, I didn't take a screenshot because I thought it would be in my account! And I never got ANY email from them. Checked spam too. This is so frustrating!

omg i had the same problem last month!! the phone system is a JOKE. kept transferring me around and nobody knew anything. what worked for me was logging into SDI Online and looking at the claim history tab - my receipt # was there along with the date i filed.

0 coins

Thank you! Let me check that right now... UGH. I'm looking at the claim history tab and it just shows my claim as "pending" but no receipt number anywhere. This is crazy.

0 coins

The receipt number should be in the format of "SD######" and is typically found in three places: 1. The confirmation page after submitting (which sounds like you didn't save) 2. The confirmation email (which you didn't receive) 3. In your SDI Online account under "View Recent Claims" or sometimes in the "View Forms" section If you can't find it there, you may need to speak with a Tier 2 specialist at EDD who can access this information. The main disability phone line rarely connects you with these specialists.

0 coins

Thank you! I tried looking in all those places but still can't find it. Do you know direct number for these Tier 2 specialists? I've wasted hours being transferred around!

0 coins

This happened to me and it turned out my claim had a processing issue so it wasn't showing up properly in the system. The receipt number isn't always visible if there's a problem with your claim submission. Did you check if you have any messages in your SDI Online inbox?

0 coins

I just checked my online inbox and there's nothing there. No messages at all. This is making me so worried that my claim didn't go through properly!

I was stuck in the same EDD phone transfer hell last month trying to get my pregnancy disability claim sorted out. After wasting days trying to reach someone helpful, I found Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it was a game-changer. They connected me to an actual EDD representative in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The rep was able to look up my receipt number and fix an issue with my claim that was preventing it from processing. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd. Seriously saved my sanity!

Thank you! I've never heard of this service but I'm desperate at this point. I'll check out that link. Anything to stop this phone nightmare!

when i filed for disability in 2023 they were having website problems and lots of people never got confirmation emails. but my claim still went through fine even without the receipt #. if ur doctor submitted the medical part u should be ok. just keep checking ur account for updates

0 coins

This is NOT accurate information. The receipt number is crucial for tracking your claim status and resolving issues. While it's true that a claim can still be processed without you knowing the receipt number, if there are ANY problems with your claim (which is common), you NEED that number to reference when contacting EDD. Please don't tell people to just wait and hope for the best with disability claims - that's how people end up with weeks of delays and financial hardship.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO FRUSTRATE YOU INTO GIVING UP!!! I spent TWO WEEKS trying to get my receipt number after filing online and the website crashed right after I submitted. Called 17 times and got disconnected or transferred every single time. Finally got through to someone who told me my claim wasn't even in their system despite me doing everything right. Had to refile completely and lost 3 weeks of benefits because of THEIR mistake. The disability department is BROKEN!!

0 coins

That's exactly what I'm afraid of! I can't afford to lose weeks of benefits if something went wrong with my filing. This is so stressful.

Quick update for you - there's actually a specific form you can submit to request your receipt number if you can't find it. It's called a DE 2580 Request for Account Information. You can download it from the EDD website, fill it out specifying you need your receipt/confirmation number, and fax or mail it. It takes 7-10 days to get a response, but it's better than endless phone calls that go nowhere.

0 coins

Thank you so much! That's really helpful. I'll try the service someone mentioned above first since it's faster, but if that doesn't work, I'll definitely submit that form. I appreciate everyone's help!

Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get your receipt number? The service mentioned above (Claimyr) has worked for many people in this community with similar EDD contact issues. Let us know if you got it resolved!

0 coins

Yes! I used the Claimyr service and got connected to an EDD specialist in about 20 minutes. They were able to find my receipt number (turns out there was a glitch with my online account that prevented it from showing up). My claim was actually in the system and is processing normally - such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

0 coins

So glad you got it resolved! The EDD online system has so many glitches that prevent receipt numbers from displaying properly. It's reassuring to know your claim was actually in the system the whole time. For anyone else dealing with this issue, it's worth noting that sometimes the problem isn't with your filing but with the website's ability to display your information correctly. The specialist route seems to be the most reliable way to get actual answers instead of getting bounced around between different departments who can't access the right information.

This is such a common issue with EDD's system! I went through the exact same thing last year when I filed for temporary disability after my surgery. The online portal is notorious for not displaying receipt numbers properly, and their phone system is designed to frustrate you into giving up. What's really frustrating is that your claim is probably fine and processing normally - it's just their website that's broken. I'm glad you found a solution with Claimyr! For future reference, I always recommend taking screenshots of EVERY page during the filing process and printing the confirmation page if possible. EDD's system is so unreliable that you have to protect yourself by documenting everything. Hope your claim processes smoothly from here!

0 coins

This is so true about taking screenshots! I learned this the hard way and will definitely do that for any future EDD interactions. It's crazy that we have to protect ourselves like this from a government system that should just work properly. Thanks for the advice - hopefully this thread will help other people avoid the same headache I went through!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Filed my SDI claim online last week and can't find my receipt number anywhere. The confirmation page loaded so slowly that I closed my browser thinking it was done, and now I'm kicking myself for not waiting. No confirmation email either, which seems to be a recurring theme based on everyone's experiences here. The phone system is absolutely infuriating - I've been transferred 6 times today alone and each person acts like they've never heard of this problem before. It's reassuring to see that others have gotten through this nightmare and that their claims were actually processing fine despite the website issues. Going to try the Claimyr service mentioned above since the traditional route is clearly broken. Thanks for sharing your experience - at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess!

I feel your pain! I went through this exact same nightmare when I filed my disability claim a few months ago. The EDD system seems designed to make you think you did something wrong when really it's just their website that's completely broken. Don't beat yourself up about closing the browser - even people who waited for the confirmation page often didn't get their receipt numbers to show up properly in their accounts later. The lack of confirmation emails is also super common, so you're definitely not alone there. I also got bounced around on the phone for days before finding a solution. The Claimyr service really does work - I was skeptical at first but they got me connected to someone who could actually help within 30 minutes. It's worth the peace of mind to know your claim is actually in the system and processing. Hang in there, you'll get through this mess!

I just went through this same ordeal a couple months ago and it's absolutely maddening! The EDD website has serious issues with displaying receipt numbers even when your claim goes through successfully. I spent 3 days calling different numbers and getting transferred around in circles before I found out my claim was actually processing fine the whole time. What helped me was using a service called Claimyr that gets you connected to an actual EDD specialist who can look up your information. Cost me about $20 but saved my sanity and got me answers in under an hour instead of days of phone tag. The specialist was able to pull up my receipt number and confirm everything was on track. Don't panic - your claim is probably fine, it's just their broken system not showing you the info you need. Document everything going forward and definitely try getting connected to a real person who can access your account properly!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's so reassuring to hear from multiple people who went through the exact same thing. The fact that this is such a widespread issue with EDD's system is both frustrating and comforting - at least I know it's not something I did wrong. I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service since everyone here seems to have had success with it. $20 is totally worth it to avoid more days of phone transfers and get some peace of mind. Really appreciate everyone in this community sharing their solutions - it's been a lifesaver during this stressful process!

This thread has been incredibly helpful for anyone dealing with EDD's broken receipt number system! I wanted to add that if you're still waiting for a resolution, you can also try calling EDD first thing in the morning (around 8:00-8:15 AM) when their phone lines open - you have a slightly better chance of getting through before the system gets completely overloaded. Also, keep refreshing your SDI Online account periodically because sometimes the receipt number will randomly appear days or weeks later due to their system delays. The most important thing I learned from my own experience is to NEVER assume your claim wasn't filed just because you can't see the receipt number - EDD's display issues are notorious but the claims usually go through fine on the backend. Save yourself the stress and use one of the connection services mentioned here to get real answers from someone who can actually access your account!

0 coins

Great advice about calling first thing in the morning! I wish I had known that tip when I was going through this nightmare. The point about receipt numbers randomly appearing later is so true - I've seen other posts where people's numbers showed up weeks after filing. It really shows how unreliable their system is for displaying information even when everything is working correctly on their end. Your reminder about not assuming the claim wasn't filed is crucial - I was so panicked thinking I'd lost weeks of benefits, but it turned out everything was processing fine the whole time. Thanks for adding these helpful tips for anyone else dealing with this frustrating situation!

I'm new to this community but dealing with the exact same receipt number nightmare right now! Just filed my disability claim last Friday and I'm already going crazy trying to find my confirmation number. The EDD website crashed right as I was finishing my application, and of course I didn't get any confirmation email. I've called 4 different numbers today and each person just transfers me to someone else who can't help. Reading through everyone's experiences here is both terrifying and reassuring - terrifying because it seems like this is a widespread systemic issue, but reassuring to know that most people's claims were actually processing fine despite not being able to see their receipt numbers. I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service that multiple people have recommended. It sounds like it's the only reliable way to actually talk to someone at EDD who can access your account properly. Thank you all for sharing your solutions and experiences - this thread is going to save me days of frustration!

Welcome to the community! You're definitely not alone in this frustrating situation - as you can see from this thread, EDD's receipt number issues are unfortunately very common. The website crashing during submission seems to happen frequently, but the good news is that your claim likely went through even if you can't see confirmation of it. I went through this exact same experience a few months ago and was panicking for days thinking my claim was lost. The Claimyr service really is worth trying - I was skeptical about paying for something that should be free, but it saved me so much stress and time. Got connected to an actual EDD specialist in about 25 minutes who confirmed my claim was in the system and processing normally. Don't waste more time with the phone transfer loop - you'll just drive yourself crazy. Hang in there, you'll get through this!

I'm going through this exact same issue right now and it's driving me insane! Filed my disability claim online three days ago and the website kept timing out during the submission process. I have no idea if it actually went through or not, and of course there's no receipt number anywhere to be found. I've already called the main EDD number twice and got the runaround both times - first person said they couldn't help and transferred me to disability, then that person transferred me to technical support, who told me to call back to the main number. It's like they're deliberately trying to make this as difficult as possible! Reading everyone's experiences here is actually giving me some hope though - sounds like most people's claims were processing fine even when they couldn't see their receipt numbers. Definitely going to try the Claimyr service that everyone's recommending since the regular phone system is clearly useless. Thanks for posting this thread - at least now I know I'm not the only one dealing with EDD's broken system!

I completely understand your frustration! The EDD system timing out during submission is so common and creates this horrible uncertainty about whether your claim actually went through. The phone transfer loop you described is exactly what I experienced - it's like they train their staff to just bounce you around until you give up. But take some comfort in knowing that based on everyone's experiences in this thread, your claim very likely did process successfully even with the website issues. The Claimyr service really seems to be the only reliable way to get actual answers from EDD instead of wasting hours on their broken phone system. It's frustrating that we have to pay for a service to access our own government benefits, but it beats the alternative of endless stress and uncertainty. Hang in there - you're not alone in this mess and there are solutions that work!

I'm dealing with this exact same nightmare right now! Filed my SDI claim online yesterday and the confirmation page never loaded properly - just got stuck on a loading screen for 10 minutes before I gave up. No confirmation email either, and my SDI Online account shows absolutely nothing. I've already spent 3 hours on the phone today getting bounced between different departments. Each person acts like they've never heard of this problem before, which is crazy since it seems to happen to everyone! Based on all the experiences shared here, I'm going to skip the phone torture and go straight to trying Claimyr. It's ridiculous that we have to pay a third-party service to access our own government benefits, but if it actually works and saves me days of frustration, it's worth every penny. Thanks everyone for sharing your solutions - this community is a lifesaver when EDD's system completely fails us!

You're making the smart choice going straight to Claimyr instead of wasting more time with EDD's phone system! I went through this same ordeal a few weeks ago - spent two full days getting transferred around before finally trying the service everyone recommended here. Got connected to an actual EDD specialist in about 30 minutes who was able to confirm my claim was in their system and processing normally, even though nothing showed up in my online account. The loading screen issue you experienced is super common and usually means your claim did go through, but their website just can't display the confirmation properly. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to pay to access our own benefits information, but honestly it saved my sanity and gave me peace of mind that everything was on track. Keep us posted on how it goes - hopefully you'll have the same success everyone else here has had!

I just went through this exact same situation last month and it's absolutely infuriating! The EDD online system is completely broken when it comes to displaying receipt numbers. I filed my disability claim and never got a confirmation email, couldn't find the receipt number anywhere in my account, and spent literally 6 hours over 3 days getting transferred around their phone system. Every single person I talked to acted like they'd never heard of this problem before, which is clearly BS since it happens to everyone! What finally worked for me was using Claimyr to get connected to an actual EDD specialist who could access my account properly. Found out my claim had been processing fine the entire time - it was just their website that couldn't display the information correctly. Cost me about $20 but saved my sanity and got me answers in 25 minutes instead of days of phone hell. Seriously, skip the regular phone system and go straight to a connection service if you're dealing with this. The peace of mind is worth every penny when EDD's system is this broken!

Wow, this is exactly what I'm going through right now! Just filed my disability claim two days ago and I'm already in this same nightmare loop. It's honestly shocking how broken EDD's system is - like, this is people's livelihoods we're talking about and they can't even provide basic confirmation that claims were received? The fact that literally everyone here has had the same experience with the phone transfers and missing receipt numbers shows this is a massive systemic failure, not isolated incidents. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr based on all the success stories in this thread. It's really frustrating that we have to pay a third party to access our own government services, but at this point I just need to know if my claim went through or not. Thanks for sharing your experience - it's reassuring to know that most claims are actually processing fine despite the website issues. This community has been incredibly helpful!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this - the EDD system is absolutely broken when it comes to receipt numbers! I went through this exact same nightmare a few months ago. Filed online, never got a confirmation email, couldn't find my receipt number anywhere, and spent days getting transferred around their phone system. It's incredibly stressful when you need disability benefits and can't even confirm your claim was received. What finally worked for me was using a service called Claimyr that connects you directly to EDD specialists who can actually access your account. I was skeptical about paying for something that should be free, but it was honestly a lifesaver. Got connected to someone in about 20 minutes who confirmed my claim was processing fine - turns out it was just their website that couldn't display my information properly. Don't waste more time with their phone transfer loop, it's designed to frustrate you into giving up. The peace of mind of knowing your claim is actually in their system is worth every penny when dealing with EDD's broken technology!

Thank you for sharing your experience! As someone who's just starting to navigate this EDD nightmare, it's both frustrating and reassuring to see how common this receipt number issue is. I'm currently dealing with the same problem - filed my disability claim online a few days ago and have absolutely no confirmation that it went through. The website kept glitching during submission and I never received any email confirmation. I've already wasted hours on their phone system getting bounced around between departments. Reading through everyone's experiences here has convinced me to try Claimyr right away instead of continuing to bang my head against the wall with EDD's broken phone system. It's ridiculous that we have to pay a third party to access basic information about our own government benefits, but clearly it's the only way to get actual answers. Really appreciate everyone in this community sharing their solutions - it's been incredibly helpful to know I'm not alone in this mess!

I'm new to this community and unfortunately joining the club of people dealing with EDD's broken receipt number system! Just filed my disability claim online yesterday after a work injury and I'm already experiencing the same nightmare everyone here has described. The confirmation page took forever to load and when it finally did, it showed some generic "thank you" message with no receipt number visible anywhere. Of course, no confirmation email either despite checking spam folders multiple times. I made the mistake of calling their main number today and got transferred 4 times before the last person just hung up on me! Reading through this entire thread has been both eye-opening and reassuring - it's clear this is a massive systemic issue with EDD's website, not something we're doing wrong. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr based on all the success stories here. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to pay a third-party service to get basic information about our own disability claims, but it seems like the only reliable solution when EDD's system is this fundamentally broken. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions - this community is providing the help that EDD should be giving us directly!

Welcome to the community, and sorry you're dealing with this mess too! Your experience with the generic "thank you" page and no receipt number is exactly what happened to me when I filed a few months ago. The fact that they hung up on you after 4 transfers is just unacceptable - but unfortunately totally typical of EDD's customer service. You're absolutely right that this is a systemic issue with their website, not anything you did wrong. The Claimyr service really is worth trying - I was hesitant about paying for it at first, but it saved me literally days of phone frustration and gave me peace of mind that my claim was actually processing. Most people here have found that their claims were working fine in EDD's system even when nothing showed up properly online. Don't stress too much - based on everyone's experiences, your claim very likely went through successfully despite the website issues. Keep us posted on how the Claimyr service works out for you!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now and it's so frustrating! Filed my disability claim online last week and the website crashed right after I hit submit. No confirmation page, no email, and absolutely nothing showing up in my SDI Online account. I've been calling for three days straight and getting transferred in circles - it's like they have a special department just for bouncing people around until they give up! Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually really comforting though, because it sounds like this is just how broken their system is, not something I messed up. I'm definitely going to try that Claimyr service everyone's mentioning since the regular phone system is clearly designed to waste your time. It's crazy that we have to pay a third party just to get basic information about our own government benefits, but at this point I just need to know if my claim actually went through or not. Thanks everyone for sharing your solutions - this thread is going to save me from wasting more days on EDD's phone nightmare!

I completely feel your pain! I went through this exact same nightmare when I filed my disability claim a couple of months ago. The website crashing right after submission is so common with EDD's broken system - it happened to me too and I was convinced I'd lost my entire application. The phone transfer game they play is absolutely infuriating, but don't let it stress you out too much. Based on everyone's experiences in this thread, your claim almost certainly went through successfully even with the website crash. I also tried calling for days and got nowhere until I used Claimyr like everyone here recommended. Got connected to an actual EDD specialist in about 30 minutes who confirmed my claim was in their system and processing normally the whole time. It's ridiculous that we have to pay for this service when it should be free, but honestly it's worth every penny to avoid the phone hell and get peace of mind. Don't waste more time with their broken phone system - just go straight to a connection service and get real answers. You'll feel so much better once you know your claim is actually being processed!

I just went through this exact same ordeal a few weeks ago and it was absolutely maddening! The EDD system seems to have chronic issues with displaying receipt numbers even when claims are submitted successfully. I filed my disability claim online and never saw a confirmation page - just got stuck on a loading screen that eventually timed out. No email confirmation either, despite checking spam folders repeatedly. Spent three full days calling different EDD numbers and getting transferred between departments where nobody could help. Each person acted like they'd never encountered this problem before, which is clearly not true based on how widespread this issue is! What finally saved me was using Claimyr (mentioned by several people above). I was hesitant to pay for something that should be free government service, but I was desperate after days of phone frustration. Got connected to an actual EDD disability specialist in about 25 minutes who was able to pull up my receipt number and confirm my claim had been processing normally the entire time - it was just their website display that was broken. Cost about $20 but absolutely worth it for the peace of mind and to avoid more days of phone transfer hell. Don't assume your claim wasn't filed just because you can't see the receipt number - EDD's backend systems usually work even when their website display doesn't!
