If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Does anyone know how long we can keep using the BOA cards after we get the new ones? I have auto-payments set up with my BOA card and don't want those to bounce.

According to the EDD website, you can continue using your BOA card until the balance is zero, but no new payments will be added to it once you activate the Money Network card. I'd recommend updating your autopay information as soon as you activate the new card. BOA cards will remain active until September 30, 2025, even if you've already switched to Money Network.

UPDATE: My payment finally showed up on my BOA card this morning! It was 4 days late but at least it's there. And I just got my Money Network card in the mail today too - talk about timing! Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance.

Glad to hear it worked out! Make sure to activate your Money Network card right away and update any automatic payments you might have set up. The transition should be smooth from here.

wait im confused... what if you got SDI for something OTHER than pregnancy? i got SDI for my back surgery last year. is that still not taxed?? the EDD website is so confusing about all this!!

0 coins

ALL SDI is non-taxable federally regardless of what medical condition it's for. Doesn't matter if it's pregnancy, surgery, broken leg, whatever. SDI = not taxed. Period. The only EDD benefits that are federally taxable are UI and PFL.

One additional clarification: While SDI isn't federally taxable, if you paid into a State Disability Insurance program through payroll deductions (which appears on your paystub), those contributions may be deductible on your Schedule A if you itemize deductions instead of taking the standard deduction. It's listed under state and local income taxes paid. Just something to consider if you itemize!

Oh that's good to know! I usually take the standard deduction, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for all the tax tips!

One more thing I wanted to add - when my claim was pending with my out-of-state doctor, I noticed something strange on my SDI Online account. It showed "pending medical certification verification" for much longer than normal. When I finally got through to an EDD representative, they explained that out-of-state claims go through a special review team. If your claim seems stuck, specifically ask if it's been assigned to the "out-of-state medical review team" - this is apparently a specific department that handles these cases. Knowing this terminology helped me get better answers when I called. Also, if your doctor's office has an online portal, give them access to upload the documentation directly if possible - this can speed up the verification process.

This is so helpful! I'll make a note of that specific department name in case I need to call. I've heard EDD can be really tricky to navigate if you don't know exactly what to ask for.

dont stress too much! my pregnancy claim with a nevada doctor went thru fine 👍 just took about a week longer than my coworker who used a san diego doctor

That's reassuring to hear! A week delay I can manage - it's the horror stories about month-long delays that were freaking me out.

my cousin tried to get unimployment while taking classes and they denied him bcuz he wasnt "available to work" so maybe just dont tell them ur in school? just say ur looking for work?

0 coins

Please don't suggest this. Not disclosing enrollment in school while collecting unemployment benefits is fraud. EDD routinely cross-references with educational institutions, and if they discover unreported school attendance, it can result in benefit repayment, penalties, and potentially more serious consequences. Always be honest on your certifications.

To your question about staying in California - yes, that would likely make the transition much smoother. Here's why: 1. The California Training Benefits program is easier to navigate when you're physically present in the state 2. Address and mail issues are eliminated 3. If any problems arise with your claim, you can visit an EDD office in person 4. Interstate claims (CA benefits while in NV) add an extra layer of complexity If staying with your friend for the 6-month program is a viable option, it would likely result in fewer headaches with your benefits. Once your training is complete and you no longer need benefits, the move to Nevada would be much simpler from a bureaucratic perspective.

Thank you so much for all your help. I think I'll take your advice and stay in CA until I finish the program. The potential benefit issues sound like more trouble than they're worth. Really appreciate everyone's input!

One thing to note about the transition from SDI to PFL - you don't have to serve another waiting period when switching from disability to paid family leave. This is a common misconception. The 7-day waiting period only applies to your initial disability claim. Also, keep in mind that while your doctor certified you for 12 weeks for your C-section recovery, EDD might approve a different timeframe based on their medical guidelines. That's why checking your claim details for the actual benefit end date is important.

0 coins

That's great to know about not having another waiting period! I was worried about that. I'll double check what EDD actually approved versus what my doctor certified. Thank you for all your help!

I just went through this exact process in August! My timeline was: - First payment posted: August 3rd - Debit card arrived: August 12th (9 days later) - Last SDI payment: September 14th - Started PFL: September 15th The key is timing your PFL application. I applied for PFL on September 1st (two weeks before my SDI ended) and it worked perfectly - no gap in payments. My advice is to call your doctor's office and confirm exactly what dates they certified for your disability, then apply for PFL about 10-14 days before that end date.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's so helpful to hear from someone who just went through it. I'll call my doctor tomorrow to confirm the exact dates they certified and then plan my PFL application accordingly.
