What's the CalWORKs and CalFresh phone number to check payment dates and amounts?
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find out when my next CalWORKs payment is coming and how much it'll be. I thought there was an automated phone number you can call that tells you when your upcoming deposits will hit and the amounts for both CalWORKs and CalFresh? I tried calling the EBT balance number but it only gave me my current balance, not upcoming deposit info. Does anyone know the right number to call? I need to budget for rent and really need to know exactly when my Cash Aid is coming through.

Yes, there is a phone number! Call the EBT Customer Service line at 1-877-328-9677. When you call, select the option for balance, but after it tells you your current balance, it should also tell you the date and amount of your next scheduled deposit for both CalFresh AND CalWORKs. Make sure you wait through the whole message - sometimes people hang up too early after just hearing the balance part.

•Thanks! I tried that number again and waited longer, but it still only gave me my balance. Nothing about upcoming deposits. Maybe it's different by county? I'm in Los Angeles County if that helps.

•Ugh that's what I was afraid of. I can't sit on hold for hours with my toddler running around. Is there anywhere online I can check instead?

Try calling your county CalWORKs office directly. There's a special payment info line that's different from the regular EBT customer service. Each county has their own direct line for benefit information. For LA County, try 1-866-613-3777 - that's their specialized benefits status line. You'll need your case number and sometimes your date of birth to verify your identity. Alternatively, check your BenefitsCal account online. Log in and look under the "Payment History" section - it sometimes shows pending payments.

•Thank you! I'll try that number. I checked BenefitsCal but it only shows past payments, not upcoming ones. I just need to know if my payment is coming on the 1st or the 3rd this month.

You need to call the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) line, not the regular EBT number. Each county calls it something different though. In my county they call it the CAPI line. Try the LA County DPSS Customer Service Center at 866-613-3777 and follow the prompts for payment information. BUT the problem is you'll probably be on hold FOREVER. Last time I tried to call them about my SAR7 I gave up after 2 hours on hold. The system is a mess right now.

•I literally cannot be on hold for hours with a 3-year-old at home. There has to be a better way to get this information!

I had the same problem last month trying to figure out when my cash aid was coming through! After trying to get through the regular way for days, I used this service called Claimyr that got me through to a real person at the CalWORKs office in about 10 minutes. They call and wait on hold for you, then call you when they get a person. Saved me hours of hold time. Check out their demo video at https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE or their website at claimyr.com - it was actually worth it because I found out my payment was delayed and I needed to submit extra verification.

•Oh wow, I've never heard of that before! That sounds way better than being stuck on hold. I'll check it out, thanks!

The phone system is confusing because different counties have different setups. Here's the most reliable way to check your payment info: 1. For CalFresh AND CalWORKs balance: Call 1-877-328-9677 (this only gives current balance) 2. For upcoming CalWORKs payment dates/amounts: You need to call your county DPSS directly LA County: 866-613-3777 San Bernardino: 877-410-8829 Riverside: 877-410-8827 Orange County: 800-281-9799 When you call, have your case number ready and follow the prompts for payment information. Some counties also let you check this info through their mobile apps or text message services now. Also, if you have a YBN/C4Yourself/MyBenefits account, sometimes you can see upcoming payments there too.

•Thank you so much for all this detailed info! I'll try the LA County number. Do you know what options I need to select when I call? There are always so many menu options it gets confusing.

•For LA County, when you call 866-613-3777: 1. Press 1 for English (or 2 for Spanish) 2. Enter your case number when prompted 3. Press 1 for information about your case 4. Press 3 for payment information It should then tell you about any scheduled payments. If it doesn't give you the info you need through the automated system, press 0 at any point to request a call back from a worker instead of waiting on hold.

Omg the whole system is SO frustrating!! I swear they make it confusing on purpose. Last month they told me my Cash Aid would be deposited on the 3rd but it didn't show up until the 7th and I couldn't get ahold of ANYONE to explain why. My rent was late and I got charged a fee. I hate how they expect us to budget when we can't even find out when our money is coming! The EBT phone line is useless half the time. And don't get me started on the reporting requirements...

•That's exactly what I'm worried about! I need to pay my rent on time and I can't afford any late fees. It's so frustrating.

Just to add one more option - if you have a smartphone, you can download the ConnectEBT app (the official app for managing your EBT card). Some counties now show upcoming deposits in that app. Not all counties have this feature enabled, but it's worth checking. You can also try texting your county office - LA County has a text service where you can get some basic case info. Lastly, if you're having trouble getting through by phone, you can always visit your local DPSS office in person. They can print out a payment schedule for you that shows your upcoming payment dates for the next few months.

•I didn't know about the ConnectEBT app! I'll try that too. Thank you for all these suggestions. I'll update here once I figure it out in case it helps someone else too.

Hey StarGazer101! I'm new here but I've been dealing with the same issue. I found that the LA County DPSS also has a text service that might help you get info faster than calling. You can text "CASE" to 211411 with your case number and they'll send you basic payment info. It's not as detailed as calling but at least you can get some info without waiting on hold forever! Also, if you go to any LA County library, they have computers where you can access your BenefitsCal account and sometimes the "pending transactions" section shows up better on the full website than on mobile. Hope this helps!

•Oh wow, thanks Maxwell! I had no idea about the text service - that sounds perfect for when I can't call. And the library tip is really smart too, I never thought about accessing the full website there. You're already being so helpful as a new member! I'm definitely going to try texting that number first since it seems like the quickest option. Really appreciate you sharing what's worked for you!

I'm new to this community but wanted to share what worked for me recently! I was having the exact same problem trying to find out when my next CalWORKs payment was coming. After trying all the phone numbers people mentioned here, I finally had luck with a different approach. I went to my local DPSS office first thing in the morning (around 8:30 AM) and asked them to print out my payment schedule. The worker was super helpful and gave me a sheet showing all my upcoming payment dates for the next 3 months for both CalWORKs and CalFresh. She said they can always do this for you in person, even if you can't get through on the phone. It took about 15 minutes total including the wait. The office address finder is on the LA County DPSS website if you need to find your local office. Hope this helps other people who are struggling with the phone system!
