Can't find how to submit SAR7 online through BenefitsCal - keeps saying "nothing to do at this time"
I'm so frustrated trying to submit my SAR7 through BenefitsCal! My worker told me I could do it online instead of mailing it in, but every time I log into my account it just says "There is nothing for you to do at this time." I've been searching all over the website and can't find where to upload or complete the SAR7 form. Has anyone successfully submitted their SAR7 report online? My deadline is in 10 days and I don't want my Cash Aid to stop. The county office is impossible to reach by phone and I can't take time off work to go in person.

I had the same problem last month!!! The BenefitsCal website is sooooo confusing. The "nothing to do at this time" message appears when theres no action items in ur account. For SAR7, you need to go to "Documents" section and then click on "Submit Verification" - thats where u can upload your completed SAR7 form (u have to fill it out first, scan/take pics). But sometimes the system glitches and doesnt show the option even when its time to submit.

•Thanks! I looked in the Documents section but don't see a Submit Verification option anywhere. Maybe it's not activated for my account yet? Or maybe my county doesn't accept online submissions even though my worker said they do? This is so frustrating!

Just to clarify - not all counties process SAR7s through BenefitsCal yet, even though workers sometimes tell clients they can submit online. The system is still being rolled out for different functions. Your county might be one that still requires paper SAR7 submissions. You have a few options: 1. Complete the paper SAR7 and mail it in (keep a copy and proof of mailing) 2. Drop it off at your county office (get a receipt) 3. Fax it if you have access to a fax machine (keep the confirmation) 4. Call your county office and ask if they have an email address for document submissions If you already have a paper SAR7, I'd recommend just completing it rather than waiting to resolve the online submission issue since your deadline is approaching.

•Thank you for explaining this! No one told me counties were still rolling out the online system. I'll fill out the paper form I received in the mail and drop it off in person to be safe. Really wish the workers would give clear information instead of sending us on wild goose chases.

omg the benefitsCal website is trash!!!! my worker also said i could submit online but it NEVER works right. one time it let me upload my SAR7 but then my benefits got cut anyway because they said they never received it even tho the website showed uploaded!!! now i always just take it to the office and wait in line for 2 hours to get a receipt. the whole system is designed to make us fail i swear

•Yes! Same happened to me! The receipt is SO important - I learned that the hard way when my Cash Aid got cut off even though I mailed my SAR7 on time. They claimed they never got it and I had no proof. Now I either get a receipt in person or send it certified mail.

Let me share what I know about SAR7 submissions on BenefitsCal from working with clients: 1. The online SAR7 submission feature is available in SOME counties but not all 2. Even in counties that have it, the feature only appears during your SAR7 submission window (usually 1st-5th of your SAR month) 3. When available, it appears under "Tasks" on your dashboard, not in Documents 4. The "nothing to do at this time" message is what shows when you're not in your submission window With only 10 days left, you're likely already in your submission window, so if it's not showing up, your county probably doesn't have online submission fully implemented yet. Do you have the paper form? That's still the most reliable method.

•This is so helpful! I didn't realize it would show up under Tasks rather than Documents. I do have the paper form they mailed me, so I'll just fill that out. Is there any way to know which counties have the online system working? I'm in Alameda County.

Have you tried clicking on "Upload Documents" instead of looking for a specific SAR7 section? That's what I had to do. BenefitsCal doesn't have a separate section just for SAR7s - you have to upload it as a general document and then select "Semi-Annual Report" from the dropdown menu. Also make sure you're uploading ALL pages even if some sections don't apply to you.

•Thats right! I forgot about that dropdown menu part. The website is NOT intuitive at all. And if u miss even one page when uploading they'll send it back and make you start over 🙄

If you're having trouble reaching someone at the CalWORKs office by phone, you might want to try a service called Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last month - couldn't get through to anyone about my SAR7 questions. Claimyr holds your place in line and calls you back when a real person is available. Saved me hours of waiting on hold. You can check out their demo at https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE or go to claimyr.com. It's the only thing that worked when I needed to talk to someone about my SAR7 issues.

•Wow, didn't know something like this existed! I'll definitely check it out because calling the county directly has been impossible. I tried calling 8 times yesterday and kept getting disconnected.

One more thing - if you're getting close to the deadline and still can't figure out the online submission, you should fax your SAR7 if possible. Many copy/shipping stores offer faxing services. The benefit of faxing is you get a confirmation sheet that proves you submitted it on time. Keep that confirmation paper safe! It's saved me multiple times when the county claimed they never received my paperwork.

•That's smart! I never thought about faxing it. There's a FedEx store near me that probably has fax services. I'll ask them how much it costs. Thanks for the tip!

Did u try logging out and logging back in? Sometimes benefitscal glitches and doesnt show all the options until u refresh or restart. also try using a different browser like chrome instead of safari that fixed it for me once

•This is good advice! I've noticed the website works better on chrome too. And sometimes it works on a computer but not on phones. The whole system is just badly designed smh

I'm having the exact same issue! I've been trying to submit my SAR7 online for weeks and keep getting that "nothing to do at this time" message. Based on what everyone is saying here, it sounds like the online system isn't fully working in all counties yet. I'm in San Bernardino County and my worker also told me I could submit online, but clearly that's not the case. I'm just going to fill out the paper form and drop it off in person to be safe - can't risk my benefits getting cut off because of their broken website. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it's really helpful to know I'm not the only one dealing with this mess!

•Welcome to the struggle! San Bernardino County seems to have the same issues as a lot of other counties with the online system. You're definitely making the right choice going with the paper form - it's frustrating that workers keep telling us we can submit online when the system clearly isn't ready. Make sure to get a receipt when you drop it off! From what I've learned reading through this thread, having proof of submission is crucial. Good luck with your SAR7!

I've been through this exact same frustration! The BenefitsCal system is so inconsistent across counties. What worked for me when I had this problem was calling my local office and specifically asking if my county participates in online SAR7 submissions through BenefitsCal. Turns out my worker was mistaken - they thought all counties had it but mine didn't at the time. Since you're down to 10 days, I'd strongly recommend going with the paper form. Here's what I learned the hard way: always get proof of submission no matter which method you use. If you drop it off in person, get a stamped receipt. If you mail it, use certified mail with return receipt. If you fax it, keep the confirmation page. The most important thing is meeting that deadline - don't let the online system confusion put your benefits at risk. You can always ask about online submission options for your next SAR7 once this one is safely submitted!

•This is such great advice! I really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences - it's clear that the workers aren't always up to date on which counties actually have the online system working. I'm definitely going to go with the paper form and get it submitted in person with a receipt. It's frustrating that we have to deal with all this confusion, but at least now I know I'm not doing something wrong - the system just isn't ready yet. Thank you for the reminder about getting proof no matter what method I use. I'll definitely ask about online options for next time once this SAR7 is safely submitted!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! It's so relieving to read that I'm not alone in this struggle. My worker also told me I could submit online, but I've been getting that same "nothing to do at this time" message for over a week now. Based on all the helpful advice in this thread, I'm convinced the online system just isn't fully rolled out to all counties yet, despite what some workers are telling clients. I'm going to take everyone's advice and just fill out the paper SAR7 I received in the mail. With deadlines approaching, it's not worth the risk of having benefits cut off because of a glitchy system. I'll definitely make sure to get a receipt when I drop it off in person - seems like that's the most important thing based on everyone's experiences here. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and solutions. This community is so much more helpful than trying to navigate the confusing county phone systems! 🙏

•You're absolutely right about this community being more helpful than the county phone systems! I'm also dealing with the same frustrating situation and it's such a relief to see everyone's shared experiences. The inconsistency between what workers tell us and what's actually available online is really problematic. I'm definitely following everyone's advice here too - going to stick with the paper form and make sure I get that receipt when dropping it off. It shouldn't be this complicated, but at least we're all looking out for each other! Good luck with your submission!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! It's so frustrating when workers tell us we can submit online but then the system doesn't work. I've been trying for days to find where to upload my SAR7 on BenefitsCal and keep getting that same "nothing to do at this time" message. Reading through everyone's experiences here, it's clear that the online system is still being rolled out inconsistently across counties. Some have it working, others don't, but workers aren't always aware of the current status for their specific county. I'm taking everyone's advice and going back to the paper method. With deadlines this tight, it's not worth risking our benefits over a glitchy website. I'll fill out the paper SAR7 and drop it off in person to get that receipt - seems like having proof of submission is absolutely critical from what everyone is saying. Thank you all for sharing your experiences! This thread has been way more helpful than anything I could get from calling the county office. At least now I know I wasn't missing something obvious on the website - the system just isn't ready yet in many places.

•You're so right about this being a nightmare! I just joined this community because I'm dealing with the exact same issue. It's honestly shocking how many of us are going through this - workers telling us we can submit online when the system clearly isn't working properly in most counties. I've wasted so much time trying to figure out what I was doing wrong on the website when it turns out the problem isn't on our end at all! I'm definitely going to follow everyone's advice here and stick with the paper form too. The stress of potentially losing benefits because of a broken website just isn't worth it. Getting that receipt when dropping it off seems like the most important thing from what everyone is sharing. This community is honestly a lifesaver - I was getting so frustrated thinking I was the only one struggling with this. Thank you Ruby and everyone else for sharing your experiences! It makes me feel so much less alone in dealing with this bureaucratic mess.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been pulling my hair out trying to submit my SAR7 online for the past week. My caseworker in Riverside County told me it was "all online now" but I keep getting that same frustrating message. After reading everyone's experiences, it's crystal clear that workers are giving us outdated or incorrect information about which counties actually have the online system working. What really gets me is how much time we waste trying to navigate a broken system when we could just be filling out the paper forms. I spent hours clicking through every section of BenefitsCal thinking I was missing something obvious, when really the feature just doesn't exist in my county yet! I'm definitely taking everyone's advice and going with the paper SAR7. Better safe than sorry when it comes to keeping our benefits. Thank you all for sharing your experiences - this community support is invaluable when dealing with these confusing government systems. At least now I know to always ask for proof of submission no matter which method I use!

•I totally feel your frustration! I'm new here but dealing with the exact same issue in my county. It's crazy how much time we all waste trying to make a broken system work when the workers keep telling us it's available online. I've been going in circles on BenefitsCal for days now getting that same "nothing to do at this time" message. After reading through everyone's experiences in this thread, I'm convinced this is a widespread problem with the rollout of online SAR7 submissions. It seems like the workers either don't know which counties actually have it working or they're getting outdated information from the state. I'm definitely going to follow everyone's advice here and just fill out my paper SAR7. With my deadline coming up, I can't afford to keep waiting for the online system to magically start working. Thanks for sharing your story - it's such a relief to know I'm not the only one struggling with this mess!

I'm having the exact same problem! I've been trying to submit my SAR7 online for over a week now and keep getting that "nothing to do at this time" message. My worker in Orange County also told me I could do it online, but after reading through everyone's experiences here, it's clear that the online system isn't actually available in all counties yet, despite what workers are telling us. This is so frustrating because I've wasted hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong on the website when it turns out the problem is that the feature just doesn't exist in my county! I really wish the workers would get accurate information about which counties actually have online SAR7 submission working instead of sending us on these wild goose chases. I'm definitely taking everyone's advice and going back to the paper form. With my deadline approaching, I can't risk my benefits getting cut off because of a broken website. I'll fill out the paper SAR7 and drop it off in person to get that receipt - seems like having proof of submission is absolutely crucial based on what everyone is sharing here.
