CalWORKs discontinued after submitting corrected SAR7 - will I still get February emergency allotment?

I'm so stressed out right now! I submitted my SAR7 for CalWORKs on January 10, 2025, but got a message that it was incomplete (forgot to include my last paystub - my bad). I immediately uploaded the missing document through BenefitsCal on January 14th, but when I checked my account yesterday, it shows my Cash Aid is being discontinued on January 31st due to

How long did it take for them to fix it? My worker never answers her direct line 😫 Did you still get your emergency allotment that month or did you lose it??

This is actually a common issue with SAR7 processing. When you submit corrections after the initial incomplete determination, it often takes 3-5 business days for them to review and update your case. Since your discontinuance isn't effective until January 31st, you still have time for them to process your corrected SAR7.Regarding the emergency allotment - those are technically part of CalFresh (food benefits), not CalWORKs (cash aid). They're processed separately, so even if your CalWORKs is temporarily discontinued, you should still receive any emergency CalFresh supplements you qualify for as long as your CalFresh remains active.I recommend:1. Call your assigned worker directly (not the main line)2. If you can't reach them, ask for a supervisor3. If all else fails, contact your county's ombudspersonMake sure to mention you submitted the corrections before the deadline and have confirmation of receipt.

Thats not totally correct info!! Emergency allotments for CalWORKs DO exist but they're different from CalFresh ones. But OP is probably talking about CalFresh emergency allotments since those are announced for February.

I had almost the EXACT same situation in November! It was horrible. I submitted my corrected SAR7 and it still showed discontinued. I LITERALLY CRIED on the phone trying to get through to someone. After 3 days of calling I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to a real person at the county office in like 20 minutes. They have this system that waits on hold FOR YOU then calls you back when a worker picks up. Saved my sanity! Here's their demo video if you want to see how it works: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwEAnyway, once I got through, they confirmed my documents were received but sitting in a queue waiting to be processed. The worker manually reviewed them while I was on the phone and fixed my case right then. My benefits continued without interruption.

Thank you!!! I'm going to try this right now because I'm literally at my wit's end. Did they need to send you anything else after they fixed it? I'm worried because my landlord is already asking about next month's rent.

This happens all the time with SAR7s and it's absolutely infuriating how the system works. Here's what's ACTUALLY happening behind the scenes:1. You submitted your incomplete SAR7 on 1/102. The system AUTOMATICALLY flags it as incomplete and starts the discontinuance process3. You submitted corrections on 1/144. Those corrections go into a SEPARATE queue that someone has to manually review5. Until someone manually reviews those docs, the system continues with the discontinuanceThe RIDICULOUS part is that even though you did exactly what you were supposed to do, their broken system doesn't automatically stop the discontinuance. And they're SO understaffed that sometimes they don't review the corrected documents until AFTER the discontinuance happens! If they discontinue you, you'll have to request a \

So true!! My worker once told me they have literally THOUSANDS of documents waiting in their queues at any given time. She said most of them don't even have TIME to check documents until the system already starts sending out discontinuance notices. The whole system is designed to make people lose benefits!!

I work at a community resource center that helps people with CalWORKs issues. Here's what you need to do immediately:1. Print out your BenefitsCal confirmation showing when you submitted the corrected documents (1/14)2. Write a brief statement explaining that you submitted the corrections within the allowed timeframe3. File for a hearing RIGHT AWAY - you have 90 days from the notice date to request a state hearing4. If you request the hearing within 10 days of receiving the discontinuance notice, you can request \

Just wanted to add some important information - when you submit corrected SAR7 documents, make sure the first page of your SAR7 is included with your corrections. Many times people just send the missing verification (like your paystub) but forget to resubmit the actual SAR7 form, which needs to be processed together. Also, if you can get through to your worker, ask them specifically to check the \

This is so important!! My sister had the EXACT same problem but turns out she only uploaded her paystub without the actual SAR7 form and they couldn't match it to her case!!

Update: I actually got through to my worker today after 3 attempts! My benefits are restored and they said I'll still get the emergency allotment. The worker said they've been swamped with SAR7s this month because of system issues. If anyone else is dealing with this, be persistent and keep calling!

That's amazing news! I'm still trying to get through. Did they just fix it while you were on the phone? How long did it take for your account to update after they fixed it?

My worker did it while I was on the phone! She had me wait about 5 mins while she processed it. She said the system updates overnight so I'll see the change tomorrow. The key was calling right when they opened at 8am!
