Trouble Updating Income with Sacramento County Calfresh - Any Tips?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble updating my household income with the county Calfresh office. I've tried calling the state EBT line, but they couldn't help. Now I'm trying to reach the Sacramento County Calfresh office directly. Has anyone else had issues updating their income information? Any tips on getting through to the right department?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been trying to update my income info for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to report changes or something š

Seriously! It's almost like they make it difficult on purpose. I swear the system is designed to frustrate us.

Have you tried faxing your info? Sometimes that works better than calling.

Faxing? What is this, 1995? š But for real, I might try that if nothing else works. Thanks for the tip!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/I-LrYdFvoqA

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken š”

I know it sounds crazy, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO.

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open in the morning. I've had better luck getting through that way.

Have you tried updating your info through the online portal? Sometimes it's easier than dealing with phone calls.

I tried, but it kept giving me an error message. Might be worth another shot though, thanks!

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with Calfresh for years, and here's what I've learned: ā¢ Always document everything. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. ā¢ If possible, submit changes in writing (email or fax) so you have a paper trail. ā¢ Be persistent. Sometimes you have to call multiple times to get the right person. ā¢ If you're not getting anywhere, ask to speak to a supervisor. ā¢ Know your rights. Familiarize yourself with the program rules so you can advocate for yourself. It's a pain, but don't give up. Your benefits are important!

Wish I had known all this when I first applied. Should be required reading for all Calfresh recipients!

Anyone else notice that the hold times have gotten way worse lately? I swear I'm spending half my life listening to that awful muzak šµš«

I heard they're understaffed. Budget cuts or something. Doesn't make it any less frustrating tho.

Hey OP, what specific changes are you trying to report? Sometimes different types of income changes need to be handled differently.

I got a small raise at work. Not much, but I know we're supposed to report any changes.
