P-EBT cards mailed November 7 - anyone receive theirs yet? Getting worried

Hi everyone - I received a notice that my kids' P-EBT cards were supposed to be mailed out on November 7 (almost 3 weeks ago now). Still haven't seen anything in the mail and I'm starting to get concerned. The school year is already halfway through the first semester and we could really use the extra food help. Has anyone who was part of the November 7 mailing batch actually received their cards yet? I've tried calling the P-EBT hotline but just get the automated message saying to wait 15 business days... which has passed. Should I be concerned or is everyone else still waiting too?

still waiting for mine too. this always happens with these benefits, they say one date and then it takes forever 🙄

That's frustrating but also kinda relieving to hear I'm not the only one waiting. Have you tried calling them at all?

P-EBT distribution is separate from regular CalFresh benefits and often runs on a different timeline. For the 2024-2025 school year, cards mailed on November 7 should typically arrive within 15-20 business days, which puts us right at the edge of that window now. A few things to know: 1. Mail delays are common this time of year approaching holidays 2. Cards are mailed in batches, so the November 7 date might mean your card was prepared on that date, not necessarily mailed that exact day 3. If you don't receive it by December 5th (which would be 20 business days), you should definitely follow up Also make sure your mailing address is current in your child's school system, as that's where they pull the address data from.

Thank you for the detailed info! I'll give it until December 5th before really panicking. My address is current with the school, so hopefully it's just holiday mail delays.

Mine came yesterday!!! I was in the nov 7 batch too. Check your informed delivery if you have usps account setup

Oh that's great news! I don't have informed delivery set up but maybe I should. Did yours come in a special envelope or anything that would make it recognizable?

plain white envelope, says california dept of social services on it. easy to miss if your not paying attention

Getting through to the P-EBT hotline is nearly impossible these days. I was having the same issue last month and kept getting disconnected. I found a service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual human at the P-EBT office in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 When I finally got through, they told me my card had been returned due to a tiny address error. They fixed it and resent it within a week. Might be worth checking if something similar happened to yours. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to try it.

It worked for me! Saved me from having to take another day off work to try calling again. The P-EBT worker I finally talked to was actually super helpful once I got through.

P-EBT cards for the 2024-2025 school year are being issued in multiple phases. The November 7th batch is part of Phase 2 distribution for children who were determined eligible based on the start of the school year data. If you don't receive your card by December 10th (allowing for holiday mail delays), you should: 1. Contact your child's school to verify they have your correct mailing address on file 2. Confirm your child is enrolled in free/reduced lunch program (this is automatic in CEP schools) 3. Call the P-EBT hotline at 877-328-9677 to report a non-receipt and request a replacement Keep in mind that unlike regular CalFresh benefits, P-EBT is administered jointly by CDSS and the Department of Education, which can sometimes create delays in processing or distribution. The benefit amount should be approximately $128 per eligible child per month for full virtual/distance learning days and around $77 per month for hybrid schedules.

This is super helpful, thank you! We're at a CEP school so they should automatically qualify. I'll give it until the 10th like you suggested before taking further steps.

MY CARD WAS STOLEN FROM MY MAILBOX LAST YEAR!!! Be careful everyone and check mail everyday. I had to wait 45 DAYS for replacement and my kids went hungry. The system is BROKEN!!

YES they made me file police report and sign affidavit and everything!! Such a NIGHTMARE. Then they said I had to wait for investigation before replacement. My advice is CHECK YOUR MAIL DAILY this time of year!!!

And make sure you keep the letter with the card! It has your case number on it which you need if you ever have to call about problems. I learned this the hard way

Just to clarify one thing - P-EBT is related to but separate from CalFresh. While both provide food assistance, P-EBT is specifically for families with children who would receive free or reduced-price meals at school. For the current distribution, benefits are being loaded retroactively, so when your card arrives, it should have benefits for multiple months already loaded (typically from August 2024 onward). The total benefit amount varies based on your school's learning model this year. If you're experiencing immediate food needs while waiting for your P-EBT card, please consider these options: 1. Contact your local food bank 2. Check if you qualify for emergency CalFresh benefits 3. Reach out to your child's school - many have emergency food programs Don't hesitate to use these resources - that's what they're there for!

Thanks for the clarification and for the suggestions! We do get regular CalFresh already, but the P-EBT is definitely helpful additional support, especially with how much growing kids eat! I'll look into the food bank option as well.
