Has anyone in CA received P-EBT 3.0 for children under 6? October delivery didn't happen
Hi CalFresh community! I'm a mom of two kids (ages 3 and 5) and I've been waiting for the P-EBT 3.0 benefits they announced for children under 6. Was told by my case worker that cards would be mailed out in October 2025, but we're halfway through November and I haven't received anything. My neighbor said she got hers last week, but when I called the P-EBT hotline, I just got stuck in an automated loop. Has anyone actually received their P-EBT 3.0 cards for kids under 6 yet? If yes, when did yours arrive? I'm counting on this for Thanksgiving groceries and getting worried.

Yes, I received P-EBT 3.0 cards for my twins (both 4) last week. They're sending them out in waves based on your county and last name. The official P-EBT website says distribution started October 15th and will continue through December 20th. What county are you in? That might help figure out when yours will arrive.

•I'm in Alameda County. Last name starts with H. So frustrating not knowing when it might arrive! Did your cards come in separate envelopes or together in one?

•My sister in Sac County got hers yesterday, last name starts with A. They're definitely sending them out, just really slow.

This whole P-EBT rollout is RIDICULOUS!!! They announce benefits then take FOREVER to actually deliver them. I have a 4 year old and we're still waiting too. Called their stupid hotline 3 TIMES and it just disconnects me. Why announce October delivery if they can't actually do it? This is why people hate dealing with these benefit programs - they never do what they say they will do on time. Meanwhile my kid needs to eat TODAY not whenever they get around to mailing a card!

•I understand your frustration, but based on previous P-EBT rollouts, they always take longer than initially announced. The timeframe on the official website (https://www.cdss.ca.gov/pebt) shows distribution through December 20th. If you haven't received anything by December 1st, that's when I'd start following up more aggressively with your county office.

got mine last week for my daughter. the weird thing is the card only had $375 on it but my friend whose kid goes to the same preschool got $450? anyone know why there are different amounts?

•The amount varies based on whether your child was enrolled in CalFresh continuously during the eligibility period. Children who were eligible for the full period (September 2024-May 2025) receive the full amount, while those with partial eligibility receive prorated amounts. Also, some households with multiple eligible children might see different amounts if the children weren't all eligible for the same time periods.

I work with a community resource center, and we've been getting tons of calls about this. The P-EBT 3.0 issuance is definitely happening but it's much slower than announced. For reference, here's what we know: 1. Distribution started Oct 15 and continues through Dec 20 2. Cards are being mailed in alphabetical order by last name within each county 3. Each eligible child gets their own card (yes, even in the same household) 4. Amount ranges from $375-$455 depending on eligibility months 5. If you already have a P-EBT card from previous issuances, benefits WILL NOT be added to that card - you'll get a new one If you need to check your status, calling the regular hotline is useless. Instead, try using the online portal at ca.p-ebt.org where you can check by entering your child's information.

•Thank you for this detailed info! I tried the online portal but it just says "pending" for both my kids. At least that confirms we're in the system. Will keep checking.

If you're having trouble reaching someone about your P-EBT status, I'd recommend using Claimyr. I was in the same situation last month trying to get info about my CalFresh and P-EBT benefits. Claimyr calls the county office for you and then connects you once they reach a live person. Saved me hours of waiting and getting disconnected. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 that shows how it works. Their website is claimyr.com - it's been a game changer for actually getting answers about my benefits.

•Does this actually work? I'm skeptical of any service claiming to get through to county workers when their phones are always "experiencing higher than normal call volume" 🙄

•It really did work for me. They don't magically skip the queue, they just have technology that waits on hold for you and calls you back when they reach someone. I was suspicious too but it worked when nothing else did.

My kids got theirs but I'm confused about something else - can this P-EBT be used the same as regular EBT? Like at farmers markets for the matching program?

•Good question! P-EBT works at all the same places that accept regular EBT for food purchases. However, P-EBT doesn't qualify for the Market Match program at farmers markets - that's only for regular CalFresh EBT. You can still use P-EBT at farmers markets, but you won't get the matching funds.

Just wanted to update everyone - my cards finally came today! Both kids got separate cards, and they had different amounts ($425 for my 5-year-old and $375 for my 3-year-old). So they are definitely still sending them out. Check your mail carefully because the envelope looks like junk mail - very plain with just a PO Box return address.
