CalFresh EBT balance not showing up - system outage?
I tried checking my CalFresh balance this morning on the app and through the phone system, but nothing is showing up - just says 'error' on the app and the phone line just disconnects after I enter my card number. I was supposed to get my February benefits loaded today. Is anyone else having this issue? My family is counting on these benefits and I'm starting to worry. Already tried restarting my phone and clearing the app cache. Could this be a system-wide problem or just my account?

This happens sometimes. Usually back up in a few hours. But if u still cant see it tomorrow call the county office. They prob doing system maintenance bc its the beginning of the month when most benefits get loaded

There's definitely a system-wide issue happening today. I work with several CalFresh clients, and at least four have reported balance checking problems this morning. The EBT system undergoes regular maintenance, but they typically schedule it late at night, not during business hours. Your benefits should still be there - it's just the viewing system that's down. If you absolutely need to use your benefits today and can't check the balance, remember you can still swipe your EBT card at the store - it should work even if you can't see the balance.

•In my experience, these system issues are usually resolved within 24 hours. If it goes longer than that, you should contact your county office. The balance checking function sometimes comes back online before the app is fully functional again.

Im having the SAME PROBLEM!!! and its not the first time!! I hate how they never warn us when the system is going down. Some people need to check their balance before going shopping!!! So frustrating when the system just randomly crashes with NO NOTICE!!!

If you're still having trouble tomorrow, try using Claimyr to get through to a real person at the CalFresh office. I was dealing with a different EBT issue last month (incorrect benefit amount) and spent days trying to get through the regular line. Saved me hours of frustration and they fixed my problem on the spot.

•I understand the concern, but considering I wasted almost 3 days trying to get through and kept getting disconnected, it was worth it to me. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to fix these issues.

This is a known issue happening across California today. The Department of Social Services just posted about it on their website. They're experiencing technical difficulties with the EBT balance checking system, but the payment processing system is still working. This means: 1. Your benefits have still been deposited if today was your issuance date 2. You can still use your card to make purchases 3. The balance checking feature should be restored by end of day If you try to check your balance using the automated phone system (877-328-9677), you'll hear a recorded message about the outage. For anyone who absolutely needs to know their exact balance, you can request a receipt showing your remaining balance after making any purchase with your EBT card.

Same thing happened to me earlier! I was panicking because I needed to go grocery shopping and couldn't check my balance. But I went ahead and used my card anyway and it worked fine - turns out I had my full February benefits loaded. Really wish they'd send out notifications when they know the system is having issues though. Would save everyone a lot of stress!
