FAFSA website login failing - no verification emails coming through

Is anyone else having trouble logging into studentaid.gov today? I've been trying since 8am to get into my FAFSA account to finish my 2025-2026 application but the site won't send me the verification email. I've checked my spam folder and everything. Tried resetting my password twice but still no emails coming through. Getting really stressed because my college's priority deadline is next week and I need to submit my SAI score. Is the FAFSA system down or is it just me??

Ugh that's so frustrating but at least it's not just me. Did you find any workaround?

This happens every year around deadline season when their servers get overloaded. A few things to try: 1. Use a different browser (Chrome works better than Firefox in my experience) 2. Try very early morning (like 5am) when traffic is lower 3. Make sure your email provider isn't blocking gov domains If none of that works, you might need to call FSA directly, but be prepared for long wait times.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try a different browser right now and set an alarm for tomorrow morning just in case.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my daughter's FAFSA application. We've been trying to access it for the past two days without success. The verification emails simply don't arrive, despite multiple attempts with different email addresses. Very concerning with deadlines approaching.

Hey everyone, I just got through after dealing with this same issue for days. What finally worked was using Claimyr to get through to an actual FSA agent who helped reset my account access. I found them at claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ The agent told me they're having issues with their email verification system and suggested a temporary account security bypass that worked immediately. Saved me hours of frustration!

I've been working in financial aid for 15 years and this is unfortunately a common issue during peak filing periods. The FAFSA system wasn't designed to handle the volume of applicants it now serves, especially after the FAFSA Simplification Act implementation created additional technical challenges. If you absolutely cannot get in, contact your school's financial aid office directly. Most institutions have procedures for students who encounter FAFSA technical difficulties, including deadline extensions or provisional aid packages while waiting for system issues to resolve. Document all your attempts to access the system (screenshots with dates/times) to support your case.

Thank you so much! I'll email my school's financial aid office right now to let them know what's happening. Should I still keep trying to login or just wait at this point?

This is ridiculous!! The govt takes BILLIONS in taxes but can't build a website that actually works?? I've been locked out for 3 days and my son might lose his scholarship because we can't submit the stupid SAI score. Why don't they just FIX THE SYSTEM instead of making us jump through hoops every single year??!!

preach! 🙌 same thing happened last year during the shutdown. they should at least have a status page that tells us when the system is down

UPDATE: Finally got in! For anyone still having issues, I used Claimyr like someone suggested above and got through to an agent in about 15 mins. They confirmed they're having email system problems and helped me get a temporary access code that bypassed the email verification. My application is submitted now! If you're still stuck, definitely try calling through Claimyr or contact your school's financial aid office. Thanks everyone for the help!

Great news! Just as a heads up for everyone - make sure you save/print your confirmation page and SAI calculation once you submit. With the system being glitchy, it's always good to have documentation of your submission in case there are any issues later.

I'm glad you were able to get through! I actually ended up calling my daughter's university financial aid office directly and they gave us a one-week extension on their institutional deadline. They said they've been getting many similar calls about the FAFSA email verification system.
