FAFSA showing wrong academic year 2023/24 instead of 2024/25 - how to fix?
He intentado cerrar sesión y volver a entrar pero sigue igual.

I had the EXACT same problem when helping my daughter last week! It's super confusing, but what's happening is that the FAFSA transition to the new FAFSA Simplification Act is causing weird display issues. The application IS actually for 2024-2025 even though it says 2023-2024 in some places. This is happening to lots of parents right now.

•Ay no!

This is a known issue with the FAFSA portal that started affecting some parent contributors in early April. Here's what's happening: When you log in as a contributor, the system occasionally displays the incorrect academic year in the header and some navigation elements, but the data you're submitting is actually being recorded correctly for 2024-2025. To verify you're completing the correct application: 1. Check the confirmation page before final submission - it should specify 2024-2025 2. Look at the student's dashboard after you complete your section - it should show the correct year 3. If you get an email confirmation, it will display the correct academic year If you're still concerned, you can call FSA directly to confirm your application is being processed for the correct year before submitting.

•You're welcome! One more thing - when you get to the final review page before submission, scroll all the way to the top where it says "Application Year". This should definitely show 2024-2025. If it doesn't, then stop and don't submit until you get clarification from FSA directly.

I tried calling FSA about this EXACT problem for 3 days and couldn't get through!!! SO FRUSTRATING!!! The wait times are ridiculous and I kept getting disconnected after waiting for over an hour! 😡😡😡

•I had the same endless wait time issues but finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They hold your place in line and call you back when an agent is about to answer. Saved me from wasting another day on hold. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ The agent confirmed for me that even though some screens show 2023-2024, the actual application data goes to the correct 2024-2025 year. They said it's a known display bug they're working on fixing.

my daughter is starting college this fall and we had to deal with sooo many FAFSA glitches this year. for this specific issue, we took screenshots of everything before submitting just in case there were problems later. after we submitted, the confirmation email showed the correct year even though the website didn't. just document everything!!

This is definitely a display issue with the parent/contributor portal that the Department of Education is aware of. The SAI (Student Aid Index) calculations are being correctly applied for 2024-2025 even when the display shows 2023-2024 in some areas. I recommend these steps to ensure you're submitting for the correct year: 1. Check that your student initiated a 2024-2025 FAFSA application (they should confirm this on their end) 2. When you complete your contributor section, the thank you/confirmation page will usually display the correct year 3. Have your student check their SAI calculation once you've completed your section If you do find yourself in a situation where the wrong year was processed, you can submit a correction after the fact, but this will delay the SAI calculation and potentially impact priority deadlines.

•That's great news! Thanks for sharing the solution - I bet this will help other parents with the same issue. The browser cache seems to cause a lot of FAFSA problems this year!

•Excellent troubleshooting! This is actually a solution we've seen work for many similar display issues. The caching problem seems to be especially common when parents access the system through older saved links or when switching between student and parent views. I'll add that if anyone else faces this issue, using an incognito/private browsing window can also prevent these caching problems.
