FAFSA contributor signature section missing - can't find where to sign as parent

I'm losing my mind trying to get this FAFSA submitted for my daughter! I completed my part as the parent contributor but now I can't figure out where to sign it. The message says "Contributor Action Still Needed" and that I need to "resolve errors and provide signature" but I literally can't find any signature section anywhere! My daughter already completed her student section, but we're stuck at this final step. I've clicked every tab and menu option in the contributor section and still can't find where to sign. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some hidden button I'm missing? The deadline is coming up soon and I'm getting really anxious about this!

Check if you have any highlighted errors in the contributor section. Sometimes you need to fix those before the signature option appears. Look for any sections with red text or error symbols.

I've checked several times and don't see any errors highlighted anywhere! The income section shows completed, the assets section shows completed, everything shows a green checkmark. But still no signature option...

Try going back to the main dashboard page where it shows the student and contributor sections. There should be a blue "Review and Sign" button at the bottom of the contributor section. If you don't see that, try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, and logging back in. The FAFSA website can be really glitchy sometimes.

I'll try clearing the cache right now. I swear I've looked everywhere for that blue button but haven't seen it. This whole process is so frustrating!

when i did mine for my son last month the signature thing was hidden at the very bottom of the page after reviewing all sections. did you scroll all the way down? Also make sure you're actually logged in as the contributor not the student account. my wife and i kept getting confused about which account we were using lol

That's a good point. I'll check if I'm actually logged in as myself (parent) rather than my daughter's account. Maybe that's the issue. And yes, I'll try scrolling all the way down on each page!

This is a common issue with the FAFSA website. First, make sure you've actually completed all sections without errors. Look for any yellow warning icons or red error messages. Second, try accessing the FAFSA site using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) as sometimes it's a browser compatibility issue. Third, make sure you're logged in with your own FSA ID as the parent/contributor, not your student's FSA ID. The signature options only appear when you're logged in with the correct account and all sections are truly complete without any validation errors.

Thank you for the detailed response! I am definitely using my own FSA ID, but I haven't tried a different browser. I'll try that right now.

OMG I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM LAST WEEK!!! It was driving me CRAZY!!! Turns out there was actually one tiny error in my income section that wasn't obvious. I had to go back through each section very carefully, clicking on EVERY SINGLE PAGE, and found that one of my W-2 entries had a small error that didn't have a visible warning. After I fixed that, suddenly the signature button appeared at the bottom of the review page. Try reviewing EACH section again one by one and make sure you click through every page of each section.

Thank you!! I'm going to try this approach now. Maybe there is a hidden error somewhere that's not showing up clearly. I'll go through each section again page by page.

The same thing happened to me when I was trying to add my signature for my son's FAFSA. After struggling for hours on the website, I tried calling the Federal Student Aid helpline but couldn't get through to anyone. Then I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to an actual FSA agent in about 10 minutes. The agent walked me through finding the signature section and explained that there was a server issue affecting some accounts. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ - seriously saved me hours of frustration.

I'm dealing with the EXACT same issue with my son's FAFSA! I've tried everything people suggested here - clearing cache, different browsers, checking for hidden errors - nothing works! This system is so broken. How can they expect parents to figure this out when the interface is so terrible? My son's financial aid is at risk because of their awful website. So frustrated I could scream!

I know it's frustrating, but don't panic yet. Did you try completely logging out, shutting down your computer, and starting fresh? Sometimes the FAFSA site gets stuck in weird states. Also, try using a completely different device if possible (like a tablet instead of computer).

UPDATE: I FOUND IT! After going through everyone's suggestions, it turns out I needed to go all the way back to the main dashboard where it shows both the student and contributor sections. There was a tiny arrow next to the contributor section that I needed to click first, and THEN the review and sign button appeared! It wasn't obvious at all! Thank you everyone for your help. For anyone else having this issue - check for that little arrow or dropdown on the main dashboard page!

So glad you figured it out! The FAFSA website has so many hidden elements like that. Thanks for sharing the solution for others who might have the same problem.

This is exactly why I HATE the new FAFSA system!!! The old version was so much easier to navigate. My daughter nearly missed her university's priority deadline because of these exact issues. They redesigned everything to be "simpler" but actually made it MORE confusing! And don't even get me started on the SAI calculation changes... my older son got way more aid with the old EFC system than my daughter is getting with the new SAI scores. The whole thing is a mess.

While the new FAFSA has certainly had implementation challenges, the SAI calculation is actually more generous overall for most families than the old EFC system. If your daughter received less aid, it might be due to other factors like the specific school's aid policies or changes in your financial situation. The SAI typically results in more Pell Grant eligibility for lower and middle-income families.

Great to hear you got it resolved! That hidden arrow/dropdown issue seems to be a common problem with the new FAFSA interface. For future reference (and for others reading this), I've found that the FAFSA site works best in Chrome with all browser extensions disabled, and sometimes you need to refresh the page after completing each section to make sure all the navigation elements load properly. The user experience definitely needs improvement, but at least there are workarounds once you know what to look for!
