FAFSA signature page stuck - can't find parent signature section after student confirms
I'm going crazy with the FAFSA signature page! My daughter and I finally managed to log into studentaid.gov after dealing with ID verification issues. We completed all the sections, reviewed everything, and got to the signature page. When she checks the box to confirm her information, it shows a message saying "additional signature required" (which I'm assuming means my signature as the parent). But there's no obvious way to access the parent signature section! I've clicked everywhere, tried different browsers, even logged out and back in. Nothing works. Has anyone else run into this? How do I get to the parent signature section so we can finally submit this application?

•Did you ever figure it out? I've tried everything I can think of and still can't find where I'm supposed to sign as the parent!

There's actually a specific sequence you need to follow. After the student confirms by checking their box, there should be a "Continue" button at the bottom of the page. Once clicked, it should take you to a new screen where the parent can create/use their FSA ID to sign. The parent needs their own FSA ID separate from the student's account. If you're not seeing the Continue button, try scrolling all the way down on the page or check if you have any pop-up blockers that might be preventing the next page from loading.

•Thank you! I'll look for that Continue button. We both have FSA IDs already set up, but maybe we missed something obvious. I'll try again tonight.

This happened to me last week!!! So frustrating. Are you using the mobile version or desktop? The mobile site is terrible for signatures. I had to switch to desktop and suddenly the parent signature section appeared after I scrolled ALL the way down. There was like this huge blank space that made it seem like nothing was there.

•We were using a laptop, but I wonder if maybe we just didn't scroll down far enough? I'll check for that empty space. Thanks for the tip!

This is a common issue with the 2025-2026 FAFSA signature page. After the student confirms, you need to look for one of three things: 1. A "Continue" button at the very bottom of the page (scroll all the way down) 2. A blue text link that says "Parent Signature" in the left-side menu 3. A notification banner at the top that you can click to proceed to the parent section If none of these appear, there's likely a technical glitch. Try using Chrome in incognito mode - the Department of Education has officially recommended this for signature page issues. Make sure you're using the most updated version of your browser too.

•Thank you for these specific tips! We were using Safari, so maybe switching to Chrome incognito mode will help. I didn't know the Dept of Education actually recommended that solution - that's helpful to know.

The FAFSA system is an absolute DISASTER this year!!! I had the exact same problem and wasted THREE HOURS trying to submit our application. The parent signature section is completely broken on their end. I ended up having to call the Federal Student Aid Information Center and after being on hold FOREVER they told me it was a known issue affecting thousands of families! They said they're "working on it" but who knows when it'll be fixed. This shouldn't be so complicated!!!!

•Oh no, that's really discouraging. Did you eventually get it submitted? I'm worried about missing deadlines while waiting for them to fix the system.

•Yes, finally! But only after THREE separate calls. The first two times I got disconnected after waiting 45+ minutes. The FAFSA phone system is as broken as their website. Completely unacceptable when families are trying to get financial aid!!

I had this exact problem last week! After trying everything and getting nowhere, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual FSA agent. They have this service where they wait on hold for you and call when an agent is ready. Saved me hours of frustration! The agent walked me through some troubleshooting steps and we got the parent signature page to appear finally. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ The agent told me they're aware of this signature page bug and gave me specific browser settings to change that fixed it. Definitely worth it instead of waiting on hold for hours or trying random solutions.

•Did they actually help solve the problem? I'm skeptical of these services but man I'm desperate at this point lol

•Yes! The FSA agent had me clear cache, switch browsers, AND change a specific setting in Chrome that allowed the parent signature section to appear. Apparently it's related to how certain security features interact with their new signature system. I would've never figured that out on my own.

my daughter and I just finished our fasfa last night and had same issue. what worked for us was logging out completely, then having the PARENT log in first using their FSA ID. then from the parent account there was an option to access the student's application and add parent signature. totally backwards from how the instructions say to do it but it worked for us!

•That's a really interesting workaround! I hadn't thought of trying to log in through my account first instead of my daughter's. I'll definitely try this approach tonight. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!

Just wanted to follow up - the Department of Education issued a technical update yesterday addressing this exact signature page issue. The official fix is to: 1. Have the parent log in with their FSA ID 2. Select "Apply for Aid" from the dashboard 3. Choose "Complete a FAFSA Form" 4. Then select "Sign a FAFSA Form" option 5. Enter the student's details when prompted This will take you directly to the parent signature section that's been causing problems. They're rolling out a patch to fix the normal student-to-parent signature flow, but this workaround should get you through until then. The SAI calculation delays won't be affected by using this method.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I'll try these exact steps tonight. Really appreciate you sharing the official guidance - makes me feel much better knowing there's a legitimate workaround.
