Cal Grant processing delay after FAFSA submission - still only showing GPA verification

Cal Grants can take 4-6 weeks to fully process after your FAFSA is submitted. It's actually normal to see only the GPA verification first - that's step one in their process. They verify your GPA meets their minimum requirements before proceeding with the rest of your application review. As long as you've confirmed your GPA was successfully verified, you're on the right track. The Cal Grant system is GARBAGE! I had the same issue last year and ended up having to call them SIXTEEN TIMES before someone finally fixed a "system flag" on my account. Turns out my high school sent my GPA but it was being rejected because of some formatting issue. The FAFSA system said everything was fine but Cal Grant wasn't processing it! DON'T WAIT - call them now and keep calling until they give you a straight answer. The financial aid office at your school won't be able to help with Cal Grant delays. The system is designed to make students give up!!

Claimyr had a customer service agent call me back once they reached someone. Normal processing this year has been about 3-5 weeks if everything is correct. If your friend applied after you but already received notification, it could mean: - They might have priority processing due to previous year recipient status - Your application may have a flag requiring additional review - Your school might have submitted your institutional verification on different timelines Continue monitoring WebGrants, but if it's been more than 4 weeks, I would recommend contacting CSAC directly. Sometimes there are simple issues that can be resolved with a quick call.

my sister had this happen too and it turns out her fafsa had a mistake on it. the school was waiting for her to fix it but never told her!! check your school email spam folder maybe they sent u something?

Update: I finally got through to someone at CSAC! Turns out there was a discrepancy between my name on the FAFSA (I used my full legal name) and my Cal Grant application (which had my nickname that my high school used). They've fixed it and said it should update in the system within 7-10 days. Thank you everyone for your help and advice!
