When do I get my unemployment money from Washington ESD after filing?

I filed my initial claim with Washington ESD about 10 days ago and submitted my first weekly claim yesterday. My account shows 'processed' but I haven't seen any money hit my bank account yet. Is this normal? When should I expect to actually receive the payment? I'm getting pretty stressed about bills coming due and need to know if I should be worried or if this is just how long it takes.

Usually takes 2-3 business days after your weekly claim is processed. If you filed on Sunday, you might see it by Wednesday or Thursday. Make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your account.

I double checked and my bank info looks right. Filed my weekly claim Sunday morning so hopefully by Thursday then.

depends on your bank too, some are slower than others. Mine usually shows up Tuesday night if I file Sunday

I have Chase, not sure if they're fast or slow with these deposits

chase is pretty quick in my experience, should be there by wednesday

If your claim is still under adjudication, payments will be held until that's resolved. Check your account to see if there are any pending issues or if you need to submit additional documentation. The 'processed' status for your weekly claim doesn't guarantee payment if there are unresolved eligibility questions.

How do I check if it's in adjudication? I don't see anything obvious on my dashboard that says that.

Log into your SecureAccess Washington account and look under 'Claim Status' - it should show if there are any pending determinations or if additional info is needed.

I was in the same boat last month - super frustrated trying to figure out what was going on with my payments. Calling Washington ESD was impossible, always busy or disconnected. Finally found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to a real person. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ and their site is claimyr.com. Worth checking out if you need to talk to someone at ESD directly.

How much does that cost? Seems sketchy to pay someone to make a phone call for you.

I was skeptical too but it actually worked. They don't require any personal info upfront and it beats spending hours trying to get through yourself.

Make sure you're not missing any work search requirements. If you didn't log your job contacts properly, they might hold your payment until you fix it.

I thought you didn't have to do job searches for the first few weeks?

0 coins

That changed, you need to start job search activities right away now unless you're on standby status

this whole system is so confusing!! why cant they just tell us when we'll get paid instead of making us guess

0 coins

I agree it's frustrating but the timing is pretty consistent once you know what to expect. Just takes a few cycles to figure out the pattern.

UPDATE: Just checked and still nothing in my account as of this morning. Starting to worry something is wrong with my claim.

0 coins

Don't panic yet. If you filed your weekly claim Sunday, Wednesday is still within the normal timeframe. Check again tomorrow morning.

same thing happened to me, took 4 days that first time but now its always exactly 3 days

The first payment is always the slowest because they're verifying everything. After that it's more predictable. I usually file Sunday night and get paid Wednesday morning.

That's reassuring, thanks. I was starting to think I did something wrong on my application.

Check your correspondence inbox too - sometimes they send messages about payment delays or issues that you might miss

0 coins

Good point, I'll check that now

0 coins

Nothing in my inbox, so I guess that's good news

I've been getting mine like clockwork - file Sunday, get paid Tuesday night. But I remember being super anxious about that first payment too.

0 coins

tuesday night? that's faster than what everyone else is saying

0 coins

might depend on your bank or when exactly you file sunday

If you're still not seeing anything by Friday, definitely try to contact them. I had a friend whose payments got stuck because of a simple address verification issue.

0 coins

How did your friend contact them? I've tried calling but never get through.

She used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Worked way better than trying to call directly.

0 coins

The waiting is the worst part! I remember checking my bank account like 10 times a day that first week lol

0 coins

That's exactly what I'm doing right now! Glad I'm not the only one.

0 coins

One thing to watch out for - if you worked at all during the week you're claiming, even just a few hours, it can delay processing while they calculate the partial payment.

0 coins

I didn't work at all last week so that shouldn't be an issue for me.

Washington ESD payment schedule is usually Mon-Wed for processing, so if you filed Sunday you should definitely see something by Wednesday night or Thursday morning max.

0 coins

Is that for all claims or just regular UI? I'm on standby status.

0 coins

Should be the same timing for standby as long as your claim is active and approved.

FINAL UPDATE: Money hit my account this morning (Wednesday)! Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Looks like 3 business days is pretty standard for that first payment.

0 coins

Great news! Now you know what to expect going forward.

0 coins

Congrats! The anxiety is real when you're waiting for that first payment.

0 coins

Perfect timing. Now you'll have a better sense of the payment cycle for future weeks.

This thread was super helpful! I'm in the same situation and was starting to panic. Filing my first weekly claim this Sunday.

Don't stress too much - it really does come through, just takes a few days that first time.

For anyone else reading this later - if you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD about payment issues, that Claimyr thing actually works. Used it myself last week when I had questions about a delayed payment.

Second this recommendation. So much easier than trying to call yourself.
