What day you get paid for unemployment Washington ESD benefits?
hey everyone - filed my weekly claim sunday night like always but still haven't gotten my payment yet. its wednesday now and im starting to worry. what day does washington esd actually pay out unemployment? i thought it was supposed to be tuesday or wednesday but maybe im wrong? my claim shows processed but no money in my account yet. anyone know the usual schedule?

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesday nights, so you should see the deposit Wednesday morning if you're on direct deposit. If you're getting a debit card, it might take an extra day or two to show up.

The payment schedule depends on when you file your weekly claim and if there are any issues. If you filed Sunday night, Tuesday night processing means Wednesday deposit for most banks. But holidays can delay things by a day.

•no holidays this week that i know of, so hopefully just the normal delay

•Also worth checking if your claim actually went through without any flags - sometimes there are verification issues that hold up payment

ugh i had this same problem last month and it turned out washington esd was trying to reach me for some stupid verification thing but i never got any notice! took me forever to get through on the phone to figure out what was going on. if you dont see payment by thursday i'd try calling.

•literally 4 hours of calling and getting hung up on. it was ridiculous. someone told me about this service called claimyr that helps you get through to esd agents faster - wish i knew about it then. they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works

Payment days can vary but usually its tuesday night processing for wednesday morning deposits. Check your account early wednesday morning, like 6am. Sometimes banks take longer to post the deposit even after washington esd sends it.

Just to clarify the Washington ESD payment schedule: Weekly claims filed by Sunday at 11:59 PM are processed Tuesday night. Direct deposits typically appear Wednesday morning, but can vary by bank. Debit card payments may take 1-2 additional business days. If you don't receive payment by Thursday and your claim shows as processed, definitely call Washington ESD.

•This is accurate - I've been on UI for 6 months and this is exactly the pattern I see every week

•what if you file your weekly claim on monday instead of sunday? does that delay everything?
0 coins
Dmitry Petrov
•Claims filed Monday through Saturday are processed the following Tuesday night, so yes it would delay your payment by a week. Always try to file by Sunday night.

i've been getting my unemployment for 8 months now and its like clockwork - file sunday night, money in account wednesday morning around 3am. if yours isn't there wednesday morning something is probably wrong with your claim.

Make sure you're checking the right account too lol. I once panicked because I thought my payment was late but I was looking at my savings account instead of checking where the direct deposit goes

Sometimes there are system issues on Washington ESD's end that can delay payments. I remember there was a week last year where everyone's payments were delayed by a day because of technical problems.

If you're really worried, you can log into your Washington ESD account and check your payment history. It should show if the payment was issued and when. Sometimes the payment gets issued but your bank takes longer to process it.

wait do you get paid for the week you just finished or the week before? im always confused about this timing
0 coins
Dmitry Petrov
•You get paid for the previous week. So when you file your weekly claim on Sunday, you're claiming for the week that just ended (Sunday through Saturday) and you'll get paid for that week on Wednesday.

•ohh ok that makes sense, thanks for explaining

I had payment delays when I first started collecting unemployment because I hadn't completed my job search activities properly. Make sure you're meeting all the requirements and logging your job searches correctly.

The worst part about payment delays is not knowing if its just a normal processing delay or if theres actually a problem with your claim. The uncertainty is killer when you're depending on that money.

Update us tomorrow if you get your payment! I'm curious if it was just normal processing delay or if there was actually an issue.

Just saw this thread and want to mention that if you do run into issues reaching Washington ESD by phone, there's a service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that helps people get through to ESD agents faster. I used it when I had a payment hold issue and it saved me hours of calling.

Pro tip: if you ever need to call Washington ESD, try calling right at 7:30am when they open or during lunch time around 12:30pm. Those are usually the best times to get through.

Just remember that if you don't get your payment and need to call Washington ESD, be prepared with your Social Security number and all your claim information. They'll ask for verification before they can help you.

One more thing - if you're ever switching banks or need to update your direct deposit info, make sure to do it right after you get paid so you have a full week for it to process before your next payment.

Final thought - if you do end up needing to call Washington ESD and can't get through, definitely consider that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier. The phone system at ESD is just brutal and anything that helps you get through faster is worth it in my opinion.
