Weekly claim filed late Sunday instead of early - Will ESD deposit still happen today?

Usually I'm super consistent with filing my weekly unemployment claim right at 8am on Sunday, and the money always hits my account by 5:30am Monday. But yesterday I totally slipped up and didn't file until 8:47pm Sunday night. Really worried because today's my first day at a new job and I'm literally counting on that deposit for gas money to get there all week. Has anyone filed their claim later on Sunday before? Will ESD still process and deposit today or am I screwed until tomorrow? Can't afford to be late on my first day but my gas light's already on.

You should be fine! ESD processes claims filed on Sunday throughout the night. As long as you filed before midnight Sunday, your payment should still be processed in the regular overnight batch and deposited Monday. The system doesn't differentiate between claims filed at 8am or 8pm on Sunday.

I've filed as late as 11:30pm on Sundays before and still got my payment on Monday! No worries. But I'm curious - are you getting paid for your wait week? Because when I started my new job I thought I wouldn't get that last payment but they actually paid me for my wait week that I never got when I first applied!

Wait, what?? I don't think I ever got paid for my wait week! I started claiming back in February, and my first payment was only for my second week. Is that something I should follow up on?

YES! Definitely check on that! ESD is supposed to pay your wait week when you return to full-time employment. It's like a bonus final payment. Call them and ask about it after you get settled in your new job!

the payments depend on ur bank too not just ESD. Some banks post unemployment faster than others. my credit union always posts around 3am but my friend with chase doesnt see his money till like noon

Just to add to this discussion - make sure you remember to report your new job and wages on your next weekly claim! You might still be eligible for partial benefits for the week depending on how many hours you work and how much you earn.

Thank you for the reminder! I start today (Monday) so I'll definitely report it on my next claim. Do I report it under the "did you work" section even if I haven't gotten paid yet?

Yes, exactly! You report work when it's performed, not when you get paid for it. So for next week's claim, you'll answer "yes" to working, enter your employer info, and report the hours/expected earnings even if you haven't received a paycheck yet.

I've literally had NOTHING but problems with ESD processing claims. Filed on Sunday at 8am like clockwork for MONTHS and still had random delays. Sometimes Monday, sometimes Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday! No explanation ever given. Their system is GARBAGE and completely unpredictable. Don't count on that money until it's in your account!!!

same here! one time my payment was randomly held for "adjudication" and took 3 weeks with no explanation! ESD is a total mess

Just checking back - did your payment come through today? Most people should see their deposits by noon if everything processed correctly.

YES! It came through around 9:30am! Made it to my first day with a full tank of gas. Thanks everyone for the reassurance and advice. This community is awesome!
