Washington ESD claim questions - determine which statement below is true of high unemployment
I'm filling out some paperwork for my Washington ESD claim and there's this question that asks me to determine which statement below is true of high unemployment. The problem is, I can't find the actual statements anywhere in my documents! Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm worried I'm missing a page or something. My claim has been pending for two weeks already and I don't want to mess anything up by submitting incomplete information.

This sounds like you might be looking at a form that got cut off or didn't print properly. What specific Washington ESD form are you working with? Sometimes the online portal has display issues.

•It's the initial claim application. I printed it out but maybe something went wrong with the printer?

•Yeah, try logging back into your Washington ESD account and viewing the form online instead of using the printed version.

•Oh no, what happened when you submitted it incomplete? Did it delay your claim?

Before you stress too much about this, try calling Washington ESD directly to clarify what form you're supposed to be filling out. The phone lines are usually busy but you can use a service like Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps you get through to an actual agent faster. I used their system last month and it worked great - there's even a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works.

•I've been trying to call but keep getting disconnected after waiting on hold forever. I'll check out that Claimyr thing, thanks!

•Claimyr really does work. I was skeptical at first but it got me through to someone at Washington ESD in like 15 minutes instead of the usual 2+ hour wait.

High unemployment typically refers to economic conditions where the unemployment rate is significantly above the natural rate, usually considered to be anything over 6-7%. But without seeing the actual statements you're supposed to choose from, it's hard to know what specific aspect they're asking about - could be causes, effects, policy responses, etc.

•That's helpful context but I really need to see the actual options. I'm going to try accessing the form online again.

•Wait, are you sure this is even part of your unemployment claim? This sounds more like a test question or something academic.

UGH the Washington ESD system is SO broken. I've been dealing with issues for months and every form seems to have problems. Half the time the website doesn't work properly and when you call they just tell you to use the website!

•Glad I'm not the only one but this is really concerning that it's happening to multiple people.

UPDATE: I just checked my Washington ESD account and you're right - the online version has all the statements listed that weren't showing up in my printed copy. For anyone else having this issue, definitely view the forms online rather than printing them out. The statements were about economic impacts of high unemployment rates.

•Great troubleshooting. This is why I always recommend using the online portal when possible.

For future reference, high unemployment usually increases government spending on unemployment benefits, reduces consumer spending, and can lead to deflationary pressures. But the specific statements on your form might be more detailed.

•That matches what I'm seeing on the complete form now. Thanks for the explanation!

This happened to me too but with a different form. The Washington ESD printing system seems to have issues with multi-page documents. Always double-check page counts.

•Good advice. I should have counted the pages before assuming it was complete.

Just wanted to add that if you do need to call Washington ESD about form issues, Claimyr really is worth trying. I've recommended it to several people now and everyone has had good experiences getting through to speak with an actual person instead of waiting hours on hold.

•I'm definitely keeping that in mind for future issues. The hold times are ridiculous.

Problem solved then? The online version had all the missing content?

•Yes! The online form was complete. I was able to answer all the questions about high unemployment impacts and submit my claim.

Glad you got it sorted out. For anyone else reading this, the key economic effects of high unemployment typically include: increased government spending on benefits, reduced consumer demand, lower tax revenues, and potential for economic recession. Washington ESD forms often ask about these concepts to gauge understanding of the broader economic context.

•That's really helpful background info. I never realized they asked about economic theory on unemployment forms.

make sure to keep checking your claim status online too, sometimes they need additional info after you submit

Washington ESD really needs to fix their printing system. This is a common issue that causes unnecessary stress for people trying to file claims.

•Agreed. How hard can it be to make sure all pages of a form print properly?

Quick tip: always save a PDF copy of completed forms before submitting to Washington ESD. That way you have a record of exactly what you submitted in case there are any questions later.

•Great advice! I'll definitely do that going forward.

For anyone still struggling with Washington ESD phone support, I second the Claimyr recommendation. Used it twice now and both times got connected to an agent within 20 minutes instead of hours of waiting.

•How much does Claimyr cost? Is it worth it for simple questions?

•I'd rather pay a small fee than waste my entire day on hold. The time savings alone makes it worthwhile.

Curious - what were the actual statement options about high unemployment on your form? Might be useful for other people to know what to expect.

Dylan Mitchell
•They were mostly about economic impacts - things like increased government spending, reduced consumer confidence, effects on inflation, etc. Pretty standard economics concepts.

This thread really shows how many issues people have with Washington ESD forms and systems. At least there are workarounds like using the online portal and services like Claimyr for phone support.
