Stuck in ESD adjudication since March - weekly claims still pending payment
So frustrated right now... I filed my initial unemployment claim in mid-March after getting laid off from construction work. My claim updated to 'adjudication in process' at the end of March, but it's been WEEKS with no movement! I'm still dutifully submitting my weekly claims (going on 5 weeks now), but haven't received a single payment. My savings are basically gone at this point. Has anyone gone through this recently? Any insight on how long adjudication typically takes in 2025? The ESD website just says 'varies by case' which is completely unhelpful. I've called about 20 times but can't get through to an actual human being. Starting to panic about rent next month...

6 weeks?! That's brutal. Did you just keep filing every week while waiting? I'm worried they're going to deny me for some reason I don't even know about.

Unfortunately, adjudication times can vary wildly. I went through this last year and mine took about 4 weeks, but I've seen others wait 8+ weeks. The important thing is to keep filing your weekly claims consistently while waiting. If approved, you'll receive all back payments for eligible weeks. \n\nSome tips that might help:\n1. Double-check your eServices account for any alerts or messages requesting additional information\n2. Make sure you're completing your 3 job search activities every week and documenting them properly\n3. If there's a specific issue flagged on your account, you can sometimes see it in the \

Thanks for the tips. I've checked my account multiple times and don't see any flagged issues or information requests. My job search activities are all documented properly (I'm actually applying to way more than 3 jobs weekly out of desperation). It's just sitting in limbo with no explanation.

just fyi they might be investigating your employer. thats what happened with me. my boss tried to claim i quit when i was actually laid off and it took ESD like 2 months to sort it all out. they never even told me that was the holdup until after it was resolved.

Oh man, I hope that's not it. My separation was pretty straightforward - the project ended and they didn't have more work. But who knows what my employer might have reported...

THIS IS WHY THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I went through the EXACT same thing in January and it took 7 WEEKS for them to approve my claim. Meanwhile bills piling up, almost got evicted, had to borrow money from family. ESD doesn't care that people have bills to pay while they take their sweet time with \

I was stuck in adjudication for 5 weeks earlier this year and finally got through to an ESD agent who was able to help. After trying the regular phone line for days with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr that connected me to an ESD agent within about 20 minutes. It was worth it just to get answers about what was happening with my claim. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3\n\nWhen I finally talked to someone, they found that my employer had disputed my hours worked, which was causing the hold-up. Once I cleared that up, my payments started processing within days. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to get things moving.

Thanks for the tip. I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did they explain why your claim was held up? I'm wondering if I should be worried about something specific.

In my case, there was a discrepancy between the hours I reported and what my employer reported. The ESD agent was able to review the documents right there on the call and resolve it. Sometimes they just need additional verification or there might be a simple flag on your account that an agent can clear up quickly. Having someone look at your specific case can make all the difference.

Make sure your identity verification is complete! I didn't realize that was holding up my claim for weeks. Check the \

My ID verification shows as complete, and I've uploaded everything they asked for. I only had one employer during the base year, so that shouldn't be complicating things. It's so frustrating having no visibility into what's actually happening.

Good point. I moved about 6 months ago and thought I updated everything, but maybe something slipped through the cracks. I'll double check my mail forwarding too.

Just a quick update - the adjudication process has gotten longer in 2025 because ESD implemented that new verification system. The average is now 4-6 weeks according to their latest update. Keep submitting those weekly claims and make sure your job search activities are well-documented. If you go over 8 weeks with no resolution, you can request an expedited review through your eServices account (under

Thanks for the info! I didn't know about the expedited review option. I'll definitely use that if I hit 8 weeks. Really hoping it doesn't come to that though.
