Stuck in ESD adjudication for 8 weeks despite submitting all requested documents - what's next?
I'm absolutely at my wit's end with ESD. My claim has been in adjudication for 8 WEEKS now! I've sent in literally everything they've asked for - employment verification, separation documents, identity proof, the works. The most frustrating part? They even responded to my secure message last week confirming they've received all my documents, but still nothing has happened with my claim!\n\nMy situation is getting desperate. My cell service just got disconnected yesterday because I couldn't pay the bill, and my rent is due in 5 days with absolutely no way to pay it. I've already gone through the governor's office for an expedited request about 10 days ago but that hasn't seemed to help at all.\n\nI worked in healthcare administration for 3 years before being laid off due to department restructuring. Nothing complicated about my case at all. I understand they're dealing with a lot of claims, but when they have ALL the information they requested, how much longer could it possibly take?\n\nHas anyone dealt with this kind of ridiculous delay even AFTER they confirm having all your documents? Is there anything else I can do besides just wait until I'm homeless?

Same thing happn'd to me earlier this year.. took 11 weeks total and I almost lost my apartment. ESD is complety overwhelmed and nobody can tell you how long itll take. So frustrating!!

11 weeks?! That's absolutely insane. Did you ever figure out what the holdup was? Did you do anything that finally pushed it through?

You're right about the document upload status - I should have been more clear. And yes, adjudicators are definitely overloaded right now. The important thing is to stay persistent with both weekly claims and trying to contact them. The system may be broken, but giving up won't help either.

I didn't know WorkSource could help with adjudication issues! I thought they were just for job search stuff. I'll definitely try going to the office tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

I spent 7 weeks in adjudication recently and found that using Claimyr.com was the only way I could actually get through to a real ESD agent. It basically holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3\n\nWhen I finally got through to an agent, they were able to tell me exactly what was holding up my claim - turned out my former employer had contested it but never submitted their evidence. The agent was able to push it through in 3 days after that call. Worth trying since you've already done the governor's expedite request.

I've heard about this service but was skeptical. Did it really work? It seems weird to use a third party just to talk to ESD. Did you have to give them a lot of personal info?

It honestly worked great for me. I was hesitant too but after 5 weeks of trying to call ESD myself and never getting through, I was desperate. You only need to give them your phone number so they can call you back when they get an ESD agent on the line. It saved me hours of redial frustration.

The situation with ESD adjudication times is absolutely unacceptable right now. I was in adjudication for 9 weeks earlier this year, and what finally worked for me was contacting BOTH my state senator AND state representative. The governor's office is getting too many requests to be effective anymore.\n\nWhen you contact your representatives, be sure to include:\n- Your full name and contact info\n- Your ESD claim ID number\n- The exact date you filed\n- Permission for them to inquire about your claim on your behalf\n- Details about your financial hardship (mention the phone disconnection and pending rent)\n\nI had my claim resolved within 5 days of my representative's office contacting ESD. They seem to prioritize legislative inquiries differently than governor's office requests.\n\nIn the meantime, call 211 to get connected with emergency assistance programs for your rent and utilities. Many counties have hardship funds specifically for people waiting on unemployment benefits.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice. I just looked up my representatives and I'm going to email both of them tonight. I didn't know about the 211 resource either - calling them now. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain exactly what worked for you.

One thing nobody mentioned is to check ur spam folder for emails from ESD. My friend missed an important document request bcuz it went to spam and that added like 3 more weeks to her wait. Just a thought

Good point! I've been checking spam regularly but it's a good reminder. I also check my account every morning to make sure I haven't missed anything.

Quick update - I contacted both my state representatives as suggested, and one of their offices actually called me this morning. They've assigned a caseworker who's going to contact ESD directly about my claim. They said they're seeing a lot of healthcare administration layoff claims stuck in verification right now because ESD is batch-processing them by industry. Apparently there was a large healthcare system that did layoffs, so they're checking all healthcare-related claims extra carefully. Still frustrating, but at least I have some explanation now.

That's such helpful information! I am part of that healthcare admin layoff wave - my former employer let go 45 people in my department alone. I reached out to my representatives yesterday and already got a response from one asking for my claim details. This gives me some hope. Thank you again!
