Still waiting for PFML 1099G tax form - required for filing taxes?
I've received my regular unemployment 1099G already (back in mid-January), but I also collected Paid Family Medical Leave benefits for 6 weeks last year after my surgery. It's now February 12th and still no sign of a separate PFML 1099G in the mail or online. Do they send a different form for PFML benefits? I know these payments are taxable income but I'm getting anxious with tax filing season here. Anyone received their PFML 1099G yet? Where/how can I access it if it's not showing up in my regular ESD account?

im in the SAME boat!! got my regular UI 1099G ages ago but nothing for the 3 months of family leave i took last year. called esd twice and both times got disconnected after waiting 45+ minutes. do we really need to wait for this form to file??

•Ugh, that's so frustrating about being disconnected! I was hoping to file my taxes this weekend, but I guess that's not happening now. Did you check your online account to see if it's there? I looked everywhere in mine but couldn't find anything about PFML tax forms.

The PFML 1099G forms are processed separately from regular unemployment 1099Gs. They should be available by January 31st according to tax regulations, but there's often a delay with the PFML division. You need to check the separate PFML portal (not your regular ESD account) by going to paidleave.wa.gov and logging in there. They don't always mail paper copies, so check online first. And yes, you absolutely must report this income on your taxes - it is fully taxable at the federal level.

•Thank you! I didn't even realize there was a separate portal for PFML. I'll check there right away. Do you know if we get penalized if we file late because we're waiting on this form?

I was able to get my PFML 1099G by using Claimyr to reach an actual human at ESD after trying for days on my own. The agent explained there was a system issue affecting some PFML tax forms and manually emailed mine within minutes. Saved me so much time! If you're still struggling to get through, check out claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it to avoid the endless hold times.

•It's legitimate - they basically navigate the phone system and secure your place in line, then call you when an agent is about to answer. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for a week straight to reach someone about my missing tax form. The video demo on their site shows exactly how it works.

YOU MUST CLAIM ALL BENEFITS ON YOUR TAXES!! I made the mistake of not reporting PFML income in 2023 and got hit with a big tax bill plus penalties later. The IRS gets notified of all benefits paid even if you don't have the form yet. Just estimate the amount if you have to but DON'T leave it off your return!!

•Thanks for the warning! I definitely don't want to deal with IRS penalties. I might have to delay filing until I can get this form then. I wish they were more organized about this stuff.

Actually I had this issue last year & what worked for me was checking my WA Paid Leave account (separate from ESD) and downloading it from there. Go to paidleave.wa.gov > Sign in > Documents > Tax Documents. If it's not there, you can submit a request through the message center asking for it. They responded to me within 2 business days last year. Hope this helps!

•This is really helpful, thank you! I just checked and it wasn't in my documents section, but I've sent a message through their system as you suggested. Fingers crossed they respond quickly!

my tax guy said if u know how much u got paid in PFML benefits u can just report that amount even without the form and fix it later if needed

•While technically possible, this isn't the best approach. If you report an incorrect amount without the official form, you might need to file an amended return later. The safest option is to wait for the official 1099G from PFML or request a duplicate through their portal. The form also shows how much tax was withheld, which affects your refund calculation.

•Thank you so much for the update! That's a relief to know it's a widespread issue and not just something wrong with my account. I guess I'll plan to file in early March then.

I'm going through the exact same thing! I received PFML benefits for 4 weeks last summer and still haven't gotten my 1099G form. I tried logging into the paidleave.wa.gov portal like others mentioned but it's showing nothing in my tax documents section. It's so frustrating because I want to file my taxes but don't want to mess anything up with the IRS. Has anyone had luck calling the PFML customer service line directly instead of regular ESD? I'm wondering if they have a separate number that might have shorter wait times.
