How to get unemployment verification letter from Washington ESD for mortgage application
I need to get an official unemployment verification letter from Washington ESD for my mortgage lender. They want proof of my weekly benefit amount and how long I've been receiving UI benefits. I've been on unemployment for about 8 weeks now and getting $487 per week. I can't find anywhere in my SecureAccess Washington account where I can download or request this letter. Has anyone else needed to get verification documentation from Washington ESD? Where do I find this?

You should be able to find this in your eServices account under 'Benefit Information' or 'Payment History'. Look for a section that says 'Print Benefit Verification' or something similar.

•I checked everywhere in my account but don't see anything like that. Maybe it's called something different?

The official verification letter is usually under 'Claimant Services' in your online account. Go to the main menu, then look for 'Request Documents' or 'Verification Letters'. You might need to wait 3-5 business days for it to be generated and available for download.

•Found the Claimant Services section but it only shows my weekly claim filing options. No document request area that I can see.

•Try calling Washington ESD directly - they can mail you the verification letter or help you access it online. The phone lines are usually less busy early morning.

I had this same problem last month! Spent forever trying to find it online. Ended up using Claimyr to get through to an actual Washington ESD agent who helped me access the verification letter. The service connects you directly to someone who can walk you through finding it in your account or send it to you immediately. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows exactly how it works.

•How much does that cost though? I'm on unemployment so money is tight.

•It's worth it when you need documents fast for important things like mortgage applications. Way better than spending hours trying to call Washington ESD and getting nowhere.

Washington ESD customer service is absolutely useless for stuff like this. I've been trying to get my verification letter for 2 weeks and keep getting the runaround.

•tell me about it... the phone system hangs up on you half the time

•Have you tried going to a WorkSource office in person? Sometimes they can help with account issues.

UPDATE: Still can't find the verification letter option anywhere in my SecureAccess Washington account. This is so frustrating when I need it by Friday for my lender.

•Try logging out completely and logging back in. Sometimes the menu options don't load properly if you've been logged in too long.

•same thing happened to me, had to clear my browser cache to see all the options

The verification letter should show your weekly benefit amount, effective dates of your claim, and total benefits paid so far. Make sure you're looking under 'Forms and Documents' not just payment history.

•I don't see a 'Forms and Documents' section anywhere. Maybe it's different depending on your browser?

•Try using Chrome or Edge instead of Safari. I've heard some people have issues with certain browsers on the Washington ESD site.

•Did they email it as a PDF? My lender needs an official document not just a screenshot.

•yeah it was an official PDF with the Washington ESD letterhead and everything. totally legitimate document.

I'm dealing with this exact same issue! My apartment complex needs proof of income and I can't find where to get the verification letter. This is so stressful.

•For apartment applications you might be able to use your payment history instead of a formal verification letter. Check with them first.

•They specifically asked for an 'income verification letter' so I think they want the official document.

the washington esd website is garbage, no wonder nobody can find anything on there

•It's definitely not the most user-friendly interface. They really need to redesign the whole system.

•They've been saying they're going to update it for years but it never gets better.

Another option is to visit your local American Job Center (WorkSource). They have access to Washington ESD systems and can help you print the verification letter on the spot.

•Good idea! There's a WorkSource office about 20 minutes from me. Do I need to make an appointment?

The Boss
•Usually no appointment needed for basic account help, but call ahead to make sure they're not too busy.

why is everything with unemployment so complicated... just want a simple letter showing my benefits

•Right? It should be a one-click download in your account but instead it's like solving a puzzle.

I had to get a verification letter for my student loan deferment. Took me calling Washington ESD 47 times over 3 days before I got through to someone who could help. The letter was in a section called 'Benefit Statements' that I never would have found on my own.

Mia Roberts
•47 times?! That's insane. I don't have that kind of time to waste.

•Yeah it was ridiculous. Next time I'm definitely paying for one of those callback services.

Try going to the main Washington ESD homepage and looking for 'Claimant Self-Service' instead of logging into SecureAccess Washington. Sometimes the verification letters are in a different portal.

•I thought SecureAccess Washington was the only way to access your account?

•There are actually a few different login portals for different services. It's confusing but some documents are only available through certain ones.

FINAL SOLUTION: The verification letter is located under 'Account Information' > 'Benefit Summary' > 'Print Verification Letter'. You have to scroll down past your payment history to see the print option. The letter includes your weekly benefit amount, claim effective dates, and total benefits paid to date.

•THANK YOU! Found it finally. You're right, it was way down at the bottom of the benefit summary page.

For anyone still having trouble, make sure you're looking at the desktop version of the website, not mobile. Some options don't show up on the mobile version.

Lauren Zeb
•good point, the mobile site is even worse than the desktop version

The Boss
•Yes, always use a computer for Washington ESD account management. Mobile is missing half the features.

Just wanted to add that if you need a verification letter that shows specific dates or benefit amounts for a certain time period, you might need to call Washington ESD to request a custom letter. The standard one might not have all the details your lender or landlord needs.

Mia Roberts
•Mine showed everything I needed - weekly amount, start date, and total paid. Worked perfectly for my mortgage application.

•Good to know! I had to get a custom one that broke down payments by month, which required calling them.

Pro tip: bookmark the direct link to the verification letter page once you find it. That way you don't have to hunt for it again if you need another copy later.

Jasmine Quinn
•Smart idea! The navigation path is so convoluted that having a direct link would save a lot of time.

•Definitely doing this. Thanks for the suggestion!

One more thing - make sure to check the date on your verification letter. Sometimes the system generates them with outdated information and you have to request a new one.

The Boss
•Good point. The letter should reflect your current benefit status and recent payments.
