How to get a call back from Washington ESD unemployment - tired of waiting on hold

I've been trying to reach Washington ESD for over two weeks about my pending claim and I'm getting nowhere. Every time I call the customer service line I either get disconnected after waiting for hours or the system hangs up on me saying they're too busy. I left messages through the secure messaging system but haven't heard anything back. My claim has been stuck in adjudication since I filed and I'm starting to panic about my bills. Has anyone figured out a reliable way to actually get someone from unemployment to call you back? I'm willing to try anything at this point.

ugh same problem here!! been calling for 3 weeks straight and nothing. the hold music is burned into my brain at this point lol

Right?? I swear I know every note of that horrible hold music by now. Did you try calling first thing in the morning?

0 coins

yeah I tried 8am sharp multiple times but still couldn't get through. their phone system is completely overwhelmed

The key is timing and persistence. I've had success calling right at 8:00 AM when they open, but you need to be prepared to redial immediately if you get the busy signal. Also try calling during lunch hours around 12-1 PM when call volume sometimes drops. Make sure you have your Social Security number and all claim details ready before you call.

0 coins

I'll try the lunch hour thing tomorrow! Do you know if there are specific days that are better than others?

0 coins

Tuesday through Thursday tend to be slightly better than Mondays and Fridays in my experience. Avoid calling on Mondays at all costs.

I was having the exact same issue until someone told me about Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to Washington ESD agents - basically they handle the calling and waiting for you. I was skeptical at first but honestly it worked. Got connected to an agent within a few hours and finally got my adjudication issue resolved. Check out claimyr.com if you're interested, they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that explains how it works.

Wait this sounds too good to be true. How much does it cost? And is it actually legit?

0 coins

It's legitimate - they don't ask for your personal info or anything sketchy. I'd rather not discuss cost in public but it was worth it for me to finally talk to someone at Washington ESD.

0 coins

I've heard of services like this but wasn't sure if they actually work. Might be worth looking into if the regular methods keep failing.

0 coins

Before trying paid services, make sure you've exhausted all the free options. Have you tried the WorkSourceWA offices? Sometimes they can help facilitate contact with Washington ESD for urgent issues. Also double-check that you don't have any outstanding items in your eServices account that might be causing the adjudication delay.

0 coins

I checked my eServices account multiple times and there's nothing showing that needs action. I didn't know WorkSourceWA could help with this though - I'll look into that.

0 coins

Yes, they can sometimes help with urgent cases, especially if you're facing eviction or utility shutoffs. Worth a shot before paying for callback services.

THE WASHINGTON ESD PHONE SYSTEM IS A JOKE!!! I've been calling for A MONTH and still nothing. They expect us to just wait indefinitely while our bills pile up? This is ridiculous and someone needs to be held accountable for this disaster.

0 coins

I feel your frustration but getting angry won't help. The system is definitely overwhelmed but there are ways to get through if you're strategic about it.

0 coins

Easy for you to say when you're not facing eviction because you can't reach anyone at unemployment!

0 coins

Actually feeling this same rage right now. The system is broken and they don't seem to care.

0 coins

Update: I just tried that Claimyr thing someone mentioned and holy crap it actually worked! They called me back within like 3 hours and I finally talked to a Washington ESD agent. Turns out there was an issue with my employer response that was holding up my claim. Problem solved!

0 coins

Seriously?? That's amazing! I'm definitely going to try this if I can't get through tomorrow.

0 coins

Glad you got it resolved! What was the employer response issue if you don't mind sharing?

0 coins

They had incorrect information about my last day of work. Once the agent corrected it in the system my claim was approved within 24 hours.

0 coins

For anyone still struggling with this, I've found success using the callback feature in eServices. Go to your account, click on 'Contact Us' and request a callback for your specific issue. It takes longer than calling but they do actually call back within 3-5 business days usually.

0 coins

I tried the callback request but never heard anything. How long ago did you use it?

0 coins

About 2 months ago, so maybe they've gotten more backed up since then. Worth trying though since it's free.

0 coins

Has anyone tried the live chat feature? I see it sometimes on the Washington ESD website but it's usually grayed out.

0 coins

Live chat is only available during very limited hours and fills up instantly. I've never actually seen it available when I needed it.

0 coins

Figures. Seems like every contact method is either broken or overwhelmed.

0 coins

I work nights so I can call during the day. Been trying for weeks with no luck. The automated system just keeps saying high call volume and hangs up. This is insane.

0 coins

Even with your schedule advantage you can't get through? That's really discouraging.

0 coins

Nope, doesn't seem to matter what time I call. System is just completely overloaded.

0 coins

One more suggestion - if your issue is about job search requirements or standby status, sometimes you can resolve it by uploading documentation directly to your eServices account rather than needing to speak to someone.

0 coins

Mine is stuck in adjudication though, so I think I need to actually talk to someone to find out what the holdup is.

0 coins

Yeah, adjudication issues usually require speaking to an agent. The callback services might be your best bet then.

0 coins

My sister used some callback service too and it worked for her. Can't remember the name but it was something similar to what others mentioned here. Saved her weeks of frustration.

0 coins

Probably the same Claimyr service. I'm starting to think this might be my only option.

0 coins

Just want to add that once you do get through to Washington ESD, make sure to ask for a direct callback number or extension if possible. Some agents can provide direct contact info for follow-up questions.

0 coins

Good tip! I'll definitely ask for that if I ever manage to reach someone.

0 coins

Most agents won't give out direct numbers anymore due to policy changes, but it's worth asking.

0 coins

Try calling the WorkSourceWA number instead of the main unemployment line. Sometimes they can transfer you or help with simple issues.

0 coins

What's the WorkSourceWA number? I'll try anything at this point.

0 coins

You can find local office numbers on the WorkSourceWA website. Each region has different contact info.

0 coins

This thread is giving me flashbacks to my own unemployment nightmare last year. Took me 2 months to get through. The system really needs an overhaul.

0 coins

2 months?? That's terrifying. How did you finally reach them?

0 coins

Pure luck honestly. Called at 8 AM on a random Wednesday and somehow got through. No special trick unfortunately.

0 coins

Quick update for OP - that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier, they also help with other Washington ESD issues like appeals and overpayment questions. Might be useful to keep in mind for the future.

0 coins

Thanks for the follow-up! I'm definitely going to check out their demo video tonight.

0 coins

Don't give up! I know it's frustrating but persistence pays off. Keep trying different times and methods.

0 coins

Thanks for the encouragement. This whole process is so stressful when you need the money.

0 coins

Maybe try calling right before they close? Sometimes call volume drops in the last hour.

0 coins

Interesting idea. What time do they close for phone calls?

0 coins

I think it's 4 PM but double-check the Washington ESD website to be sure.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! I'm going to try the early morning calling again tomorrow, and if that doesn't work I'll look into the Claimyr service. Will update if I make any progress.

0 coins

Good luck! Hope you get through soon.

0 coins

Rooting for you! Don't give up.

0 coins

This whole thread makes me grateful I got through to Washington ESD on my first try. Must have been super lucky.

0 coins

Must be nice!! Some of us aren't that fortunate.

0 coins

Yeah I realize now how rare that was. Feel bad for everyone struggling with this.

0 coins

Have you tried tweeting at Washington ESD? Sometimes social media pressure gets faster responses.

0 coins

I don't really use Twitter but that's an interesting idea. Do they actually respond to tweets?

0 coins

Hit or miss, but I've seen them respond to public complaints sometimes.

0 coins

I'm dealing with the exact same frustrating situation! Been trying to reach Washington ESD for weeks about my claim that's been stuck in "pending" status. The phone system is completely broken - either busy signals or getting disconnected after hours on hold. I've tried calling at different times, using the callback request feature, even visited a local WorkSource office but they said they can't directly help with claim issues. It's incredibly stressful when you're depending on these benefits to pay rent and bills. Really considering trying one of those callback services people mentioned here since the free methods aren't working. Has anyone had luck with contacting state representatives about this issue? Seems like the system needs serious attention from higher up.
