How long does direct deposit take for unemployment Washington ESD payments?
I just got approved for unemployment after waiting through adjudication for almost a month. My claim finally shows approved and I can see payment issued for last week, but nothing has hit my bank account yet. This is my first time getting UI benefits and I'm not sure what to expect. How long does it usually take for Washington ESD direct deposit to actually show up? I set up my banking info when I first applied but I'm getting nervous that something went wrong.

Usually takes 1-2 business days once payment is issued. Check your payment history in your SecureAccess Washington account to see the exact date it was sent. If it shows as issued yesterday, you should see it by tomorrow.

•Thanks! It shows issued yesterday so I'll keep checking. Just paranoid after waiting so long for approval.

•Same here, mine always hits the next business day after the issued date

Make sure your bank info is correct in your account. I had a typo in my routing number and it took 3 weeks to figure out why my payments weren't coming through. Had to resubmit everything and wait for them to reissue.

•Oh no, how did you find out there was an error? Did Washington ESD contact you?

•Nope, had to call them. Took forever to get through but they told me the payments were being returned by my bank.

•This is exactly why I used Claimyr to get through to an agent when my payments were delayed. Found them at claimyr.com and they got me connected within minutes instead of calling for hours. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works.

•What does your payment history show? If it says issued more than 2 business days ago, definitely call Washington ESD.

•That's too long. Something's definitely wrong with your banking info or the payment got rejected.

I've been on unemployment for 6 months now and direct deposit is usually very reliable. Tuesday payments hit Wednesday, and if you file late in the week it might not process until the following Tuesday. Just don't panic if it takes the full 2 business days.

•That's reassuring, thank you. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday so hopefully it processes soon.

•Wait, I thought you had to file by a certain day or you lose that week?

•You have to file within the filing period, usually Sunday through Saturday for the previous week. As long as you file during your assigned week you're fine.

THE SYSTEM IS SO BROKEN!! I've been waiting 2 weeks for my payment and every time I call they just say 'processing' - meanwhile I'm about to get evicted!!

•Two weeks is definitely not normal for direct deposit. Is your claim showing any issues or flags?

•NO FLAGS, NO ISSUES, JUST SAYS PAYMENT ISSUED BUT ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS

•You need to get through to someone at Washington ESD immediately. I had a similar issue and used Claimyr to reach an agent. Way better than sitting on hold for hours just to get disconnected.

Just want to add that if you're switching from debit card to direct deposit, it can take an extra processing cycle. They have to verify the new account first.

•I set up direct deposit from the beginning, so hopefully that's not an issue for me.

•Yeah I made that mistake, switched mid-claim and it delayed everything by a week

Natasha Ivanova
•Good point, I'll check that too!

•The notifications aren't the same as the actual money though...

I work at a credit union and see unemployment deposits come through all the time. Washington ESD typically sends them out Tuesday nights and they post Wednesday morning for most banks. Some smaller banks might take until Thursday.

•That's really helpful insider info, thank you!

•What about if it's a holiday week? Does that delay things?

•Yes, banking holidays will delay it by a day. Washington ESD still processes but banks don't post deposits on federal holidays.

Mine took 4 days the first time because I guess they do some kind of verification for new accounts? After that it was always next day.

Natasha Ivanova
•Did they tell you about the verification or did you just have to wait and see?

Luca Greco
•Had to wait and see, nobody mentioned it when I set up direct deposit

This whole thread is making me anxious about my own payment that's supposed to come through tomorrow... Washington ESD needs to be more transparent about their timing.

•Don't stress, as long as your payment shows issued and your banking info is correct, it'll come through.

•I know you're right but after all the delays with my initial claim I don't trust anything anymore

Quick update for anyone following - my payment just hit my account this morning! So it was exactly 2 business days from when it showed issued. Thanks everyone for the reassurance.

•Great news! That's the normal timeline so your future payments should be predictable now.

For anyone still having issues getting through to Washington ESD about payment problems, I discovered Claimyr last month and it's been a game changer. Instead of calling 50+ times, they connect you directly to an agent. Really worth checking out at claimyr.com if you're stuck.

•Is this legit? I'm desperate at this point but don't want to get scammed

•Totally legit, they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows exactly how it works. Saved me hours of calling.

•Just used this service yesterday and got through to Washington ESD in under 10 minutes. Definitely recommend if you're having payment issues that need agent help.
