ESD weekly claim phone system not offering filing option - can't submit my claim!

Is anyone else having trouble with the ESD phone system right now? I tried calling to file my weekly claim like I usually do (my internet is down at home), but the automated system isn't giving me the option to file a weekly claim at all! It goes through all the other menu options but completely skips the weekly claim filing option. I've tried calling five times today already and hanging up to try again, but it's the same every time. My bills are due next week and I NEED this payment to process on time. Any idea what's going on or how to get around this? Is there a different number I should be calling?

Glad I'm not the only one, but this is really stressing me out. Did you find any solution yet?

The phone system menu options occasionally get updated without warning. Try pressing 1, then 1 again, then 3 when you get to the main menu. That worked for me last week when I couldn't find the weekly claim option. If that doesn't work, you might be calling outside the weekly claim filing period (Sunday-Saturday) or your claim might need attention for another reason.

Thank you! I'll try that sequence right now. Really hope it works because I've already spent two hours trying to get through.

THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THEY "UPDATE" THEIR SYSTEM!! Last time they did this I missed a week of benefits because I couldn't file on time. Then they made me fill out an application for a "missed week" which took 6 WEEKS to process. ESD is an absolute nightmare to deal with. If you can't get the phone system to work, you MUST try to reach a live agent ASAP before your filing window closes!!

I understand the frustration, but sometimes the weekly filing option isn't available if there's an issue with your claim that needs to be addressed first. Check your eServices account to see if there are any alerts or messages requiring action before you can file again.

Have you tried filing online instead? That's what I always do and it's much easier than the phone system.

I mentioned in my post that my internet is down at home. That's why I'm trying to use the phone system in the first place. I usually do file online.

I had the exact same problem last month - turned out my claim had an adjudication issue that needed to be resolved before I could file again. Check if you received any letters in the mail from ESD recently. For me, I had to verify some employment details before I could submit more weekly claims. The most reliable way to check what's happening is to speak directly with an ESD agent. I spent days trying to get through the regular number without success. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected to an agent within 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent explained exactly why my weekly claim option was missing and what I needed to do to fix it. Saved me weeks of stress!

I hadn't thought of that - maybe there is something wrong with my claim status. I didn't get any letters though. Is that Claimyr service legit? I'm desperate at this point but nervous about using third-party services.

Completely legit - they just help you skip the phone queue. The agent I spoke with was an actual ESD employee. They were able to tell me exactly what was wrong with my claim and fixed it right away. Well worth it when you're stuck like this.

That used to work in 2023 but not anymore! I tried calling at 8:00:01 AM last week and STILL got the "high call volume" message. The whole system is designed to prevent people from getting their benefits!!

Here's what might be happening based on my experience working with claimants: 1. If your benefit year has ended, you won't see the weekly claim option until you file a new initial claim 2. If you have an adjudication or identity verification issue pending, sometimes the system restricts weekly filing until that's resolved 3. If you reported earnings over your benefit amount for several consecutive weeks, the system sometimes automatically stops offering the weekly claim option 4. There could be a technical issue with the phone system - they do sometimes have glitches I'd recommend checking your claim status on eServices if possible (maybe at a library or friend's house since your internet is down). If that's not possible, you need to speak with an agent directly. Be prepared with your claim ID number and personal identification information when you call.

Thank you for these details! I think #3 might be my issue actually. I did work part-time the last few weeks but I still claimed because some weeks were under my benefit amount. I'll try to get to the library tomorrow to check online if the phone options don't work today.

UPDATE: I finally got through! Turns out my claim had been flagged for an eligibility review because of my part-time work. That's why the weekly claim option wasn't showing up. The agent was able to reset something in the system and now I can file again. For anyone else having this issue - keep trying to reach an agent! Sometimes the system has issues that only they can fix on their end.
