Can't find weekly claim option after reopening ESD claim - need direct phone contact
I just reopened my unemployment claim on the ESD website but there's no weekly claim option showing up anywhere in my account. I really need to file but the system isn't giving me the option! When I call the main number, I just get an automated menu with 4 options, none of which connect me to an actual person. Because of this issue, I didn't even get credited for my waiting week which is really stressing me out. Does anyone know a direct number where I can actually talk to a real ESD representative? I've been trying for 3 days straight and I'm starting to panic about missing payments.

I went through the EXACT same issue last month after reopening my claim. The weekly claim option doesn't show up immediately - it takes their system 24-48 hours to update. If it's been longer than that, you need to call the claims center at 800-318-6022, but good luck getting through. I got disconnected 17 times before giving up. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent. They have this service that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of frustration. Check out their demo video if you're curious: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Worth it to get this sorted out before you miss more weeks.

•Thanks for the tip about the 24-48 hour delay - nobody tells you that! It's actually been 4 days now so something's definitely wrong with my claim. Did you have to do anything special after talking to the agent? I'm worried about that waiting week credit too.

the menu options are useless tbh. press 2, then press 0 like five times in a row. sometimes it bypasses and puts you in the queue. worked for me once but not always.

•I'll try that trick tomorrow morning! Did you have to wait long after getting into the queue?

This is a common issue with reopened claims. There are a few potential causes: 1. Your claim may be stuck in processing status 2. There could be an identity verification hold 3. Your reopened claim might need manual review For most reopened claims, you need to call 800-318-6022 and speak with a claims specialist. The best times to call are Tuesday-Thursday between 8-9am or 4-5pm. Be prepared with your claim ID and the date you reopened. Alternatively, you can submit a message through the ESD secure message portal, but phone is faster for fixing weekly claim access issues. The waiting week should be automatically credited once you get the weekly claim option working again - that's normally just a technical issue.

•Thank you for explaining all this! Nobody tells you these details when you reopen. Do you know if there's a specific option I should select from the phone menu to get through to someone who can actually help with this specific issue?

ESD IS THE WORST!!! I had my claim reopened in January and it took THREE WEEKS before I could file weekly claims. Called 46 times in one day. When I finally got through, they said it was some stupid flag on my account that needed to be removed manually. This system is designed to prevent people from getting benefits!!!

•Three weeks?? Oh no, I can't wait that long! I have rent due next week that I was counting on this money for. Did they backpay you for all those weeks once they fixed it?

•I don't think I'm on standby - I just did a regular reopening because my previous job ended. How do I check if I'm on standby status though?

When you reopen a claim, you sometimes need to wait until Sunday after reopening before the weekly claim option appears. If it's been more than one full week since reopening, then yes, you definitely need to speak with an agent. The most direct way to reach ESD: 1. Call 833-572-8400 instead of the main number 2. Choose option 1, then option 3 3. Be prepared to wait (avg 45-90 minutes) Regarding your waiting week: When you do connect with ESD, specifically mention that you need both the weekly claim access fixed AND your waiting week properly credited. They will need to manually adjust this in most cases of reopened claims with delayed weekly claim access. Keep detailed notes of all calls, including agent names and ID numbers. This will help if you need to reference the conversation later.

•THANK YOU for that specific phone number! I'll try it first thing tomorrow morning. I've been using the 800-318 number and getting nowhere. I'll definitely mention both the weekly claim access and waiting week issues specifically.

I'm going through this exact thing right now too! My claim says "active" but there's no way to file a weekly claim. I'm on day 5 of trying to reach someone. Did any of these suggestions end up working for you? I'm getting desperate.

•@losingmymind - If you're on day 5 with an active claim but no weekly claim option, that's definitely a technical issue needing agent intervention. This specific problem usually requires a claims center specialist to reset your weekly claim access. The 833-572-8400 number I mentioned above tends to have more knowledgeable agents for this specific issue than the general helpline.

UPDATE: Finally got through to someone! For anyone else with this issue - I used the 833-572-8400 number that @ClaimExpert suggested and pressed 1, then 3 like they said. Still waited about an hour but actually spoke to a person! My problem was that when I reopened my claim, it got flagged for "eligibility review" which prevented the weekly claim option from appearing. The agent manually added the option to my account and I was able to backdate my claim to include the waiting week. They said this is happening to a lot of people right now because their system was updated in February. Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's great news! Glad you got it fixed. Did they say how long it will take for your payments to process?

@UI_Struggler Glad you got through! For your first payment after reopening, it typically takes 3-5 business days once you've successfully filed those weekly claims. Since you had that eligibility flag, it might take slightly longer, but you should see it by next week. The waiting week doesn't pay out but it's important that it's properly credited in the system.

•They said 3-4 business days for the payment to process. I'm just relieved to have it fixed! That direct phone number was the key.
